Know the school
Established in 1985. Striving since 30 years!
Currently has 251 students from Grade 1 to 10
Student backgrounds: Parents are usually daily wage workers, rag pickers, domestic helps.
Instances of alcoholic fathers, parent desertions, food scarcity are common
Students in Indian Army, work as teachers, police officials, government officials and stable jobs in private companies
Were it not for this school, these kids would have never got an opportunity to an education!
Bhartiya Vidhya Prabhodini School, Siddharthnagar, KALYAN(W) – 421 301
Dist: Thane State: Maharashtra
Their challenges
PovertyMany students cannot afford the
textbook, stationery and school uniform costs
Basic infrastructure issues
Create security and disturbance problems like lack of blackboards,
broken benches, water seepage, broken window grills
No computers The school does not have any computer.
A little computerization can go a long way to help the administration and the students. The kids are eager to learn!!
Lack of Support & Mentoring
Students lack educated mentors who can assist them with their studies,
choices and problems

How much contribution is good enough?
• Do not worry about the total funding needed. Give whatever you can happily afford – big/small.
• No amount is too small. Something is always better than nothing.
• Donate an amount that will make you happy, not an amount that will pinch. You are sharing the underlying feeling – not just the money.
• Tip: Imagine an amount that you can donate every month without feeling any pinch. Multiply that by 12 and donate
The vision

SUCCEEDFocus on process improvements to increase academic performance
SUSTAIN“Systemize” the processes to repeat successes and replicate it in other schools
