This programme provides you with the theoretical and practical knowledge needed for success in the growing field of environmental technology. Graduates will acquire skills and techniques in environmental sampling, monitoring, data analysis and information technology tools. They will be familiar with applying the principles of ecosystem-based management for sustainability and have the ability to manage environmental projects from planning to implementation and maintenance. The awareness in environmental quality is increasing globally. The concept of ‘green technology’ has been adopted and emphasized by the government to drive national economic growth with the National Green Technology Policy formed to focus on four pillars; Energy, Environment, Economy and Social. QIUP’s programme provides an opportunity for students to apply their skills through partnerships in the community and stresses the
need for designing and implementing systems to prevent, control and clean-up environmental contamination. Laboratory practice in water quality testing, groundwater movement, computer-aided environmental audits and the chemistry of pollutants provides you with the skills needed to analyse and remediate the urban environment. This is to eradicate recent global phenomena such as haze, bad water quality for drinking, leachate contamination, improper solid wastes and wastewater disposal, and many others which have attracted public concern. The unique combination of technical skills in this diploma program will greatly increase your career options.
