Hour of Reparation Next Friday, September 21, at 7 pm, St. Marys will have an hour of reparation for healing and to pray for the Church. Let us pray together.
Scripture Corner:
First Reading: Isaiah 50:5-9a Isaiah describes the willingness of the Suffering Servant to submit to the persecution of his enemies. This willingness stems from true faith in God, and the knowledge that the Lord will always be his help. Second Reading: James 2:14-18 James states that if some one is hungry and you wish them well but do not help them, you have done them no good. He compares this to stating your faith, without backing it up with your actions. He reminds us that we must show our faith through our good works.
Gospel: Mark 8:27-35 Jesus taught his disciples that as the Messiah, he had to suffer much, be put to death, and rise three days later. Peter began to disagree and Jesus reprimanded him for judging by human standards rather than by God’s. He told them that whoever would be willing to lose their life for the sake of Jesus and the gospel, will in fact preserve their life forever.

Reprinted for those who were away.
Thank you for your generosity to our Renew & Rebuild Campaign.
Here are a few projects we are working on: 1) For your comfort in these hot summer days, a new air conditioner was recently installed in the St. Joseph's Room, just as we had also replaced air conditioners in the Church a few months ago. The new air conditioner in the St. Joseph's Room replaced the original one from when the room was first built. 2) New, secure locks on the front doors of our school are being installed for the protection of our children and all who use the school building. 3) Last week we started the process of getting the roof over the school gym repaired. As many of you know, whenever we have heavy rain or snow, there were leaks in the gym and we want to be sure to protect our beautiful gym floor, especially for our very active CYO program. There of course, will be other projects to be undertaken. You will be kept up to date as we progress. Thank you for all that you do. -Fr. Duff

Walking with Purpose is a Catholic Bible study for women that aims to bring women to a deeper
personal relationship with Jesus Christ by offering personal study and small group discussion that link our everyday challenges with the solutions given to us through the teachings of Christ and the Catholic
Church. https://walkingwithpurpose.com
Fearless and Free (11 week course) Fearless and Free is the newest WWP study, based
on the book of Ephesians. So many of us are wrestling through the reality that life isn’t easy, even
when we are doing the right thing. Suffering can slam into us from left field, leaving us reeling. This
study provides a firm foundation to stand on no matter what life throws our way. With an emphasis
on healing and wholeness, Fearless and Free is the most personal and transformative study that
Walking with Purpose has offered so far.

Join the Credo community at St. Patrick's Church in Yorktown as we explore our Catholic faith and how we can apply the Gospel to our own lives! Each month we delve into a different facet of what it means to be a follower of Christ through fun and thought-provoking discussions and activities meant to inspire us to fulfill our true calling as children of God. All young adults (ages 18-35) are welcome to meet us on the 3rd Friday of the month for adoration in the chapel of St. Patrick's Church 7-7:30pm, followed by our discussion of the night in the Family Education Center, Rm. 101. Everyone is also invited to join us for a group dinner at a local restaurant following the meeting.
