With the passing of another vintage we welcome all
our Mailing List customers and supporters to our
2013 Newsletter.
The past year has been both busy and rewarding
highlighted by another strong vintage, celebrating 10
years of the Coonawarra Roadshows and coinciding
with this newsletter showcasing the release of our new
vintage wines.
A warm dry summer followed by cool weather throughout
the harvesting period resulted in a relatively compact
uncomplicated vintage. The wines are showing great
colour, good varietal definition and the tannin structure
to suggest they will accommodate high levels of oak. Both
Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz look extremely promising
and we look forward to their progress.
This year we celebrated the 10th anniversary of the
Coonawarra Roadshows around Australia’s capital cities.
With record numbers in attendance it was fantastic to
catch up with many of your familiar faces at these events.
Lynn, Glenda and our happy band of helpers at Cellar Door
have been kept busy with a steady stream of visitors, as
well as our ongoing events. After Dark continues to grow
with an amazing crowd and atmosphere enjoying live
music and Mrs Zema’s pizza. Coonawarra Unearthed
Exhibition as part of the Penola Coonawarra Arts festival
gives the opportunity for our budding local wine industry
artist’s to showcase their talents while Coonawarra Cellar
Dwellers highlights our cellared wines with the opportunity
to taste and purchase rare museum wines from our cellar.
On the family front Mum and Dad are both fit and well
with Demetrio recently spending some time back in Italy
catching up with family and friends. Matt and Teresa
are keeping busy while Demetrio Jnr is now focusing
diligently on his law career. Nick and Jackie are enjoying
life chasing three kids around pony paddocks, sports ovals
and school yards.

The joys of a wet winter are starting
to show with lush green grass,
healthy budburst and our vitalunderground water table continuing
to rise and more importantly
keeping the spring frost at bay.
Our commitment to restructure
and refresh some of our vineyards
has commenced in earnest with
some grafting of newer Cabernet
Sauvignon clones, changes to trellis
design as well as the ongoing vine
maintenance of all our vineyards.
We look forward to these
improvements keeping our vines
happy and healthy, ultimately lifting
our fruit quality even higher.
Vineyard News
(Nick)
Following another terrific vintage
we are busily filtering wines from
the 2013 vintage as they complete
their malo lactic fermentation and
progressively filling into oak.
We are about to commence the
significant but rewarding task of
blending and preparing for bottling
the wines from the outstanding
2012 vintage.
We look forward in due course to
the maturation and release of two
excellent but contrasting vintages.
