Youth Festival 2015-16

Youth Festivals are indeed a refreshing change from the usual

monotony of classes and examinations. It provides the youth a fine

platform to showcase their latent talents and brings the college

atmosphere alive and also rejuvenates the minds of the youngsters.

Co-curricular activities are very essential for the holistic

development of the students and they also play a very important

role in shaping the personality improvement. Keeping this in mind

we at Shri K. K. Shastri Govt. Commerce College, as many as fifty

selected students of our institute participated in the Zone level

events of the Youth Festival in a total of seventeen different

events. The students had first undergone competitions at the

college level under the various dharas of the Saptadhara initiatives

and the winners of the events were further sent for the Youth

Festival. In the events relating the Gyandhara and Rang Kala

Kaushalya Dhara the students prepared on their own with some

guidance from the faculty members but for the events relating to

music, acting and dance professional trainers were hired by the

college for the purpose. The Zone level events were held on 26th, 27th

and 28th September, 2015 in the Gujarat University Campus. The

host of the Youth Festival Zone level events 2015-16 was Khyati

Institute of Physiotherapy. Out of these seventeen events that the

college participated in, the students stood victorious in the six

events, and were further sent for the inter zone competitions.

The inter-zone level events were hosted by J.G. Institute of Business

Administration and the students participated in the following five

events held on 2nd and 3rd October, 2015.

Students who took part in the zone level and the inter zone level

competitions were given certificates of winning and also certificates

of participation by the host college. Our college also motivated the

students by giving them trophies and certificates on the college

Annual Day. It was the first time in the history of the college that we

had participated in as many as eighteen events and stood victorious

in six events at the zone level. Through the Youth Festival we could

definitely find out our public speakers, actors, artists and dancers.

The result of these events was due to the combined efforts and team

work of the staff and students. Special thanks should be extended to

our members of the events Dr. Bhavesh Lakhani and Smt. Shruti

Dabhi and all the student participants who had worked endlessly

and tirelessly. Most importantly a very special thanks to our

respected Principal Dr. M. G. Bhatt for being a constant source of

inspiration and support.
