8.6.1.2GeneralMaintenanceRequirements…(a)TheMaintenanceControlProgramshallconsistofbutnotbelimitedto:

(1)examinations,maintenance,andtestsofequipmentatscheduledintervalsinordertoensurethattheinstallationconformstotherequirementsof8.6.Themaintenanceproceduresandintervalsshallbebasedon:

(a)equipmentage,condition,andaccumulatedwear(b)designandinherentqualityoftheequipment(c)usage(d)environmentalconditions(e)improvedtechnology(f)themanufacturer’srecommendationsforanySILrateddevicesorcircuits

8.6.1.2.1(a)TheMaintenanceControlProgramshallconsistofbutnotbelimitedto:

(2)cleaning,lubricating,andadjustingapplicablecomponentsatregularintervalsandrepairingorreplacingallwornordefectivecomponentswherenecessarytomaintaintheinstallationincompliancewiththerequirementsof8.6.

8.6.1.5CodeDataPlate8.6.1.5.1TheCodedataplateshallcomplywith8.9.8.9.1RequiredInformationAnindividualdataplateshallbeprovidedandmaintainedforeachunit(see1.1.1).

ThedataplateshallindicatetheCodetobeusedforinspectionsandtests(see8.10.1.2).

ThedataplateshallindicatetheCodeandeditionineffectatthetimeofinstallation.

ThedataplateshallalsoindicatetheCodeineffectatthetimeofanyalterationandindicatetheapplicablerequirementsof8.7.

WheretheinstallationoralterationcontainsSILrateddevices,thefollowingwording,“InstallationcontainsSILrateddevices,”shallbeincludedonthedataplateoronanadditionalplatelocatedadjacenttotheCodeDataPlate.

8.9.2LocationThedataplateshallbeinplainview,securelyattachedtoeachmainlinedisconnectorcontroller.Itshallalsobepermittedtolocatethedataplateinthecontrolleraslongasitisinplainviewwiththecontrollerdooropen.Anadditionaldataplateshallbeinstalledinthevicinityofoneofthestartingswitchesontheexteriorofescalatorsandmovingwalks.

8.9.3MaterialandConstructionThedataplateshallbeofsuchmaterialandconstructionthatthelettersandfiguresstamped,etched,cast,orotherwiseappliedtothefaceshallremainpermanentlyandreadilylegible.Theheightofthelettersandfiguresshallbenotlessthan3.2mm(0.125in.).

8.9.3MaterialandConstruction(continued)Alldataplatesnotlocatedinthecontrollershallbeprovidedwitheither(a)adurablemeanstopreventcommoncontaminants(suchaspaint,adhesives,oil,andgrease)fromadheringtothedataplateparentsurfaceandpermittheremovalofthesecontaminants,withoutobscuringtheCoderequireddata,or

(b)lettersandfiguresthatareraisedordepressedaminimumof0.8mm(0.03125in.)fromtheplatesurfaceface,andhaveaminimumcharacter-strokewidthof0.5mm(0.02in.)

Iftheplatesareexposedtoweatheringorachemicalatmosphere,thenadurablemeansshallbeprovidedtoprotecttheinformationfromdeteriorationwhilepermittingtheinformationtobeeasilyread.
