YOUR ORGANISATION AND THE COMMITTEE FOR ADELAIDE
2016
Committeefor Adelaide
Committee for Adelaide is a non-profit, member-based think tank promoting the development of Greater Adelaide and South Australia.
Our members represent a broad cross-section of South Australian businesses, organisations and individuals that are united by their stake and belief in the long-term future of Adelaide and South Australia.
Our independent alliance is committed to creating the future of Greater Adelaide as a city of economic prosperity, cultural diversity, creativity, social vitality, and a world-class built environment.
Committee for Adelaide provides a non-partisan forum that values collaboration and exchange.
We act as a conduit for Adelaide’s combined intelligence and creativity and together we pursue the identification, development and adoption of innovative ideas and solutions for the future development of Adelaide with a focus on the strategic and long-term view that is beyond immediate electoral or budget cycles.
ABOUT
We’re driven to work openly and collaboratively across varied sectors that otherwise would have little to do with each other. The Committee’s work centres around people, business and capital, and how the interconnection of these areas and their relationship to one another largely determine the economic and cultural health of our society.
The committee is focused on harnessing the strengths, work and enthusiasm of our members and partners to shape the future of Adelaide. Currently we have divided the committee’s work into six groups that meet monthly.
These groups and their focuses are:
_Business Attraction
Better articulating the business development opportunity of South Australia to companies interstate and abroad while working with decision makers on new policy initiatives that are focused on attraction
_Business Migration (SIV)
Gathering and presenting the benefits and challenges relating to attracting significant investors to South Australia and taking a policy leadership position in working with Federal and State Governments.
_City Growth
Leading research into the supply and growth future of the greater metropolitan area and how the State should best plan for future challenges, future opportunities and for new economies.
_Commercialisation of Innovation
Better linking of entrepreneurs with business, and business opportunities with entrepreneurs; firstly, by celebrating the rich history of creation and innovation in our State; and secondly, by leading the policy debate on how South Australia can again hold this mantle by delivering a series of signature projects.
_Educational appropriateness
Targeting South Australia’s education offerings to the State’s priorities and opportunities such as health industries and the nuclear fuel cycle, as well as known business investment.
_Migration and Population
Developing opportunities to increase awareness of South Australia in known and new markets and guide policy settings to make the most of people wanting to migrate to South Australia. This includes how best to harness the potential of the international student population.
The groups are linked in to relevant Federal, State and Local Government reviews and policy processes and many members are participating in other external projects in related fields.

Through your ideas and input
The Committee’s vitality originates from the organisations that comprise our membership. Adelaide works best when it works together. To improve the competitiveness of Adelaide and the State, we provide a collaborative forum for our diverse membership to exchange ideas, skills and research.
We bring together the brightest minds from amongst our membership to address challenges and exploit opportunities that Adelaide is presented with. Members are invited to recommend graduates or key leaders from their organisation to participate in Committee meetings and functions, including meetings that determine the Committee’s position.
Through their creativity and knowledge, these delegates will be actively involved in supporting the work of the Committee to identify, develop and adopt innovative ideas and solutions for the future development of Adelaide.
They will work alongside peers from other organisations and different industries by contributing to research, publications and events.
Through your financial contribution
We believe that Adelaide and South Australia needs a non-partisan forum where ideas for our future can freely be discussed, tested and progressed.
Your membership fees are critical to allow us to provide this. It allows us to maintain an office, a small secretariat and to provide the resources that support, coordinate and demonstrate the work we do together for the betterment of Adelaide.
