OUR OUT OF HOURS COVID-19 EMAIL ADDRESS IS
ATTENDANCE
Headteachers Note
Thanks for all the understanding this week. We know it is a great
worry for parents but I can ensure you the safety of the children
in school is our main priority.
Nursery and Reception children and staff in Miss Gardiner’s class
will be able to return to school on Friday October 23rd. They have
been asked to self-isolate, only as a precaution.
I know parents have been questioning the use of face masks in
school on social media. The staff and school have followed all
the official guidelines and rules by the Welsh Government.
Please remember, as I have said all week, if you have questions please ring the school and I will try my best to answer them. Writing on social media sites does not help answer your questions it just creates issues for parents. We are not on Facebook so unless I hear off you, I will presume there are no issues. Have a great weekend

Reception/Year 1 Mrs Pickering In Reception/ Yr1
we have been finding out about the Great Barrier Reef and have made top trump cards for the different turtles, fish, sea snakes and crabs etc. that live there. Did you know that the Great Barrier Reef is the largest living structure on earth and astronauts can see it from space? In maths we have been finding one more and one less and we have made story maps and mountains of The Enormous Turnip. For our science topic we have been leaning about and naming parts of the body. Last Wednesday we enjoyed our first welly walk. The children were amazing and we made leaf kebabs. On Thursday we celebrated Diwrnod Shwmae. The children took charge of their learning that day, and decided which tasks they would like to do. Everyone looked lovely in their red, white and
green clothes.
Year 3 – Mrs D’Angeli What a busy fortnight! Firstly we enjoyed deciding on our tasks for
our 'Shwmae Day' celebrations. Our flag designs were awesome and
we put so much effort into them.
Our Osprey visits have been brilliant, we have learnt many new rugby
skills and it keeps us so fit.
In math’s we have concentrated on finding missing numbers in
addition sums, adding several numbers and using digit cards to make
our own sums. We have also used our 2x tables to answer questions
and work out amounts of money.
In Literacy we have worked hard on extending sentences, identifying
and sorting adjectives and to use them in our independent writing to
make it more interesting. In welsh we have planned our first language
journey and we are revising vocabulary and sentence patterns so we
can include them in our own first person profile in the next few
weeks. Conversation and drillio tasks will really help us so much.
We have listened to songs sung by Luciano Pavarotti such as 'Nessun
Dorma'. We have compared his opera music to other welsh opera
singers such as Paul Potts from Port Talbot. We have worked so
hard in year 3. Da iawn!
Year 4/5 Mrs Thomas We have had another busy couple
of weeks in Year 4/5. In Literacy we have been learning all
about haiku poems and finding out the important rules we need
to remember in order to write our own next week. In maths we
have been dividing by 10 and using a variety of methods to
complete addition sums. The children are really enjoying our
‘India’ topic and are always so eager to learn new facts. We
have identified India on a map of the world as well as labelling a
map of India using a key to identify the capital city, cities, rivers
and locating the oceans and countries that surround India. We
have also created fact files using chrome books to show the
population, currency and languages spoken in India. We started
our Science topic of ‘Materials’ and carried out an investigation
to test a variety of materials for hardness, flexibility,
transparency, permeability and magnetism. Again, well done to
all the children who have been putting in such a brilliant effort
with learning log tasks on Google Classroom, I thoroughly enjoy
seeing what they have done
Year 5/6 – Mrs Thomas
In English we have been looking at the features of a
non-chronological report and using them to create our
own report. We have researched animals from the
amazon rain forest and found amazing facts, to use in
our own reports. Did you know sloths can swim 3 times
faster than they can move and humpback whales can
grow up to 19 meters long! In mathematics we have
been working hard on TT Rockstars this week to
improve our knowledge of our times tables and we
have been using these skills to complete grid method
multiplication. We are really enjoying our Brazil topic
and have completed PowerPoints comparing Brazil and
Wales. I have also seen amazing work on the Google
classroom – well done and thank you so much for your
support. I will be popping up a reading challenge for
Half Term so good luck!
Pupils Voice
Hi all, we would like to introduce the Criw Cymraeg. In
Year 2 we have Maizy and Cameron, in Year 3 Harriet and
Ava, in Year 4 we have Dakota and Morgan, in Year 5
Cayla and Harry and finally in Year 6 we have Leon and
Gwen. So far we have celebrated Shwmae day by wearing
red, white and green as well as doing Welsh based
activities such as playing rugby, learning about the Lions
tours, researching famous Welsh people and designing
new flags and Welsh costumes. We really enjoyed the day
and we are looking forward to the year ahead. Thank you
for your support.
Year 2 – Miss Evans In Year 2 we have been focusing on
number work, finding 1 more and 1 less, and 10 more and 10 less. We
have been partitioning 2 digit numbers and knowing the place value
of both digits. We have also looked at patterns in numbers when
counting in tens, fives and twos. In language work we have been
concentrating on letter formation, writing sentences with capital
letters, full stops and sitting our letters on the line. We have this
week created our group innovations for the story Senorita Gordita,
and can't wait to write out stories next week. We have found out
about the flag of Mexico and know the story of the Aztecs finding
their home in what is now Mexico City. We have each designed our
own Sombreros and coloured in the flag of Mexico. We celebrated
Diwrnod Shwmae day by colouring pictures of the welsh dragon and
daffodils. We practised speaking in welsh by using our talking feet,
introducing Beth wyt ti'n hoffi? and Beth wyt ti ddim yn hoffi? Thank
you to everyone who has posted work, videos and photos on the
Google Classroom. Well done all.
