• There will be seminars schedule during your Observation and Practice Teaching time focusing on “The First Week In A Classroom”

• Will NOT have to participate in Laptop Bootcamp again.

• Classes begin Monday September 13 for year five students.

OTHER PRESENTATIONS• Ontario Teachers Federation (OTF): represents all

teachers who teach in the publicly funded education system in Ontario. www.otffeo.on.ca

• Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO): represents teachers who teach in public elementary schools. www.etfo.ca

• Ontario English Catholic Teachers’ Association (OECTA): represents teachers, both elementary and secondary, who teach in Catholic schools. www.oecta.on.ca

OTHER PRESENTATIONS CON’T

• The Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation (OSSTF): represents teachers who teach in public secondary schools. www.osstf.on.ca

• Ontario College of Teachers: Teachers who want to work in publicly funded schools in Ontario must be certified to teach in the province and be members of the College. www.oct.ca

• Qualifications Evaluations Council of Ontario (QECO): evaluate teacher qualifications for salary purposes. www.qeco.on.ca

• Placement divided into two large blocks:January 11-February 26, 2010 (seven

weeks)March 1-April 16, 2010 (six weeks)

• Will be requesting a placement in both divisions i.e. if you are a P/J student, will be requesting a primary and a junior placement.

• Service Learning Option: January 11-29, 2010 (as discussed at information session February 5, 2009)

• Students in J/I Division, will be asked to indicate their interest in a high school placement. There can be no guarantee that a high school placement will be possible.

• During term two you will not be required to come to campus for formal classes.

• You will be invited to attend the Education Job Fair usually scheduled in January.

• In September will be able to apply to alternative placements:

InternationalSpecial Education*Native Education*Outdoor Education*Kindergarten Education

• Students can apply to more than one placement, but will only be allowed to participate in one.

• Alternative placements are normally for three weeks.
