The History of The History of XX--KoteKote X-Kote was developed by Mr Marc Johnston of Canada over a period of 10 years and was tested on over 10,000 vehicles before being released to the public in 2004 when it was introduced to the world as the very first hand applied Polyurethane clearcoat. Dealerships quickly spread throughout Canada and the U.S.A making their way through Europe.

X-kote is now finally available in Australia.

Today’s automotive paints are typically a 2 stage paint; a basecoat, which has the color and the metallic flake in it, and a clearcoat on top. The clearcoat is like a lens and creates the perception of depth. When that clearcoat is dulled or swirled, not only do you lose the shine, but the paint's depth as well. X-kote brings the clearcoat back to a brilliant shine, and leaves absolutely zero swirls, so the clarity and depth of the paint is maximized. Gelcoats and single stage paints, without a

clear coat, lack the depth of a 2 stage (basecoat/clearcoat) paint. When X-kote'd, they have an incredible deep wet look. X-kote also gives single stage paints and gelcoats the UV protection they lack.

Q - How is X-kote applied? A - X-kote is applied by hand with an application cloth. The application lines will self level completely flat in 5 to 10 seconds. Q - How long will X-kote last? A - X-koting your vehicle, boat or aircraft is similar to repainting it. X-kote can

never wash or wear off like other waxes and products. It will scratch and wears just like the existing paint. The long term condition of your X-kote finish, just like your existing paint, will vary with environmental conditions, care of the finish, etc. Q - How deep of scratch can X-kote repair? A - X-kote will easily repair light scratches and swirls, and can even repair a very deep scratch, all the way through the clear coat. If the damage has gone all the way through to the primer coat, it will first be minimized with X-kote, then we will

do a very fine touch up to the remaining damage.

Q - Does the surface need to be sanded or scuffed before application? A - No. Typical paints and clear coats adhere mechanically, meaning you have to scuff or sand the surface for it to adhere. X-kote however, utilizes a unique chemical adhesion process, which is a far stronger and consistent form of adhe-sion, eliminating the need to scuff the surface.
