Participants will learn the legal and philosophical foundations of Part C of IDEA, how early intervention is implemented in West Virginia, and expectations for practitioners providing services within WV Birth to Three. The training includes an overview of family centered services, the IFSP process, procedural safeguards (family rights), required system components, personnel standards, and enrollment procedures. March 1 6-9 pm Parent Panel- Parent Perspectives on Raising a Child on the Autism Spectrum Hearing a family’s story can be a powerful experience for providers and other families who may find themselves experiencing similar feelings and encountering the same situations. Because families of children with ASD have so many different life experiences, they are in a special position to inform providers and other families about what their journey has been like – the joys, the fun, the stresses and the sorrows. Four families of children with ASD will each share their story in this webinar. Their children range in age from 3 to 13 years and each has a unique perspective to share regarding their family’s story. Families and providers are encouraged to attend and ample time for questions will be provided at the end of the webinar. March 9th 1-3 pm WV Birth to Thee Lunch and Learn- Camp Gizmo Ever wondered what Camp Gizmo is all about? Story Time Fridays at 10:30am for children under the age of three. Many people believe that children learn to read and write in kindergarten or first grade. But developing literacy skills begins at birth through everyday loving interactions—sharing books, telling stories, singing songs, talking to one another, or pointing out and naming objects. Even painting, drawing or picking up things serve a purpose. These activities help develop hand muscles and coordination—skills necessary for learning how to write. Adults—parents, grandparents and teachers—play a powerful role in preparing young children for future school success and in becoming self-confident and motivated learners.
