  • Go Futher Conference for Girls

    Spread the word: registration is open for the Go

    Further Conferences, held Thursday, March 26;

    Monday, April 6; and Sunday, April 26. Go

    Further is a one-day conference on the Iowa

    State campus for middle school and high school

    girls to learn about STEM (science, technology,

    engineering, and math) fields and how to infuse

    their passions within a career. The program is

    put on by the Program for Women in Science

    and Engineering at Iowa State

    University. Registration fee is $15, to learn more

    and register visit the Go Further Conference

    Design Camp

    Registration is open for the 2020 Design

    camp, Design Dimensions, hosted by Iowa 4-H

    and the College of Design. The camp is held

    June 21-26. Find out more information and

    County Fair Photo Challenge

    The 2020 4-H fair Challenge picture—Sports.

    Use your imagination, grab your camera, go

    explore and start taking pictures. Remember you

    will only submit one picture in the challenge

    class. This photo cannot be entered in regular

    photo class.

    4-H Fun Night

    4-H Fun Night is Saturday, March 14, 2020, at the

    C-G-D High School. The evening will be filled

    with: games, food, fun, friends and prizes. All

    families are asked to participate in the following

    ways: each club is assigned to bring pies, cakes,

    and/or bars. Your club is listed below. Parent

    committees are being planned to help with food

    stand, bingo, traffic control, tickets sales, and the

    raffle. Please watch for your letter in the near

    future. If there is an area you would like to help in,

    please call to volunteer. Last year royalty parents

    are asked to decorate the stage for coronation.

    Cakes & Pies: All families are assigned to bring

    either a cake or pie. Please bring all pies and

    cakes in disposable containers and label the kind

    of pie! The club assignments are as follows:

  • Save the Date: Volunteer Training

    Annual Leader Training 2019-2020: 4-H

    Prepares Youth for the Future. Volunteers who

    are club, project, or Clover Kid leaders, SESS

    leaders or assistant leaders attend an annual

    training that strengthens their positive youth

    development knowledge and skills. Training

    occurs in each county and is designated as the

    annual training module.

    This year, leaders will consider ways they can

    help youth refine skills that will prepare them for

    the future while identifying ways to help youth

    explore, learn, practice, and experience possible

    careers. In addition, leaders will leave with tools

    and resources to support their work preparing

    youth for the future! Resources from the training

    are posted on the Volunteer Resources

    webpage. Wright County 4-H volunteer leaders

    training will be Thursday, February 27th at 6 pm

    at the Extension office. There will be a light meal,

    please RSVP to Jessica by Monday, February

    24th. Snow date is Thursday, March 5th at 6 pm.

    Babysitting Clinic

    The Wright County Babysitting Clinic will be held

    February 22 at the Extension office from 9am—3

    pm. This workshop will be open to all youth in

    currently in 5th grade and up. Registration forms

    will be at school for the youth to pick up or at the

    Extension office or online at https://

    New 4-H Volunteer Required Training

    Rescheduled

    This training is designed for new 4-H volunteers

    committing to a long term experience working with

    4-H youth as club, project, Clover Kid leaders and

    assistants. Volunteers committing to these roles

    are required to attend a regional new volunteer

    training within the first 12 months of being

    screened and approved as a 4-H volunteer.

    The blended learning training is designed to give

    new volunteers a better working knowledge of

    positive youth development, the Iowa 4-H

    Equation, and tools that will help them be more

    confident and capable in their roles working with

    youth. The training will be delivered in two

    components. The first includes four, online

    training modules that help create a baseline for 4-

    H volunteers. It is followed by a regional, three

    hour face-to-face training that will allow volunteers

    to apply some of their learning. Sign up for the

  • 2020 Muscatine 4-H and FFA Rabbit and Cavy Workshop

    The annual 4H and FFA rabbit and cavy workshop will be held Sunday, March 22, from 12:30 to 4 p.m. at the Muscatine Agriculture Learning Center in Muscatine, Iowa. This state wide and multi state workshop is sponsored by Iowa State University, Iowa State Rabbit Breeders Association, Cedar Rapids Rabbit Breeders, Mississippi Valley Rabbit Breeders, Fred's Feed from West Liberty, Nutrena Nature Wise Feeds, Mike Avesing, and the Muscatine Agriculture Learning Center.     2020 Equine Extravaganza

    Equine Extravaganza provides opportunities for

    all youth in grades 4 through 12 to share their

    knowledge of the equine industry through a

    variety of competitions and participatory events.

    Select opportunities are also open to young

    people in third grade. You do not need to be a

    member of 4-H to register. As a part of the event,

    a judges clinic is also offered. This opportunity is

    for adults wanting to become certified or re-

    certified to judge at county or regional equine

    shows in Iowa. This is held at the Ellsworth

    The 2020 Iowa Beef Expo Livestock Judging

    Contest will be held Sunday, Feb. 9. Find out

    $50 or $20 respectively. Deadline to register is

    Iowa Dairy Goat Association Share-A-

    Kid

    The Iowa Dairy Goat Association 2020 Share-A-

    Kid contest is open with an entry deadline of

    This is an opportunity to obtain a free dairy goat

    doe kid for someone wishing to get involved with

    Free Showing and Fitting Clinic for

    Dairy Goats

    The Iowa Dairy Goat Association is hosting a free

    showing and fitting clinic Saturday, May 9, from 9

    a.m. to 3 p.m. in Bondurant, Iowa. Attendees

    should plan to bring salad or dessert for the

    potluck lunch. All Share-a-Kid winners are
