Greetings to all, This has been a week of highs and lows. Last Sunday, we bid farewell to Mother Susan and Brad as we wished them well in their retirement, which started on October 1. Thank to all who came to their event. It was great to see everyone, even if it was only from the eyes up. Everyone looked well. Babies are now walking. Kids have grown into adults. Funny how none of the adults grew old- er. Now for the really good news!!!! Bishop Stokes has approved our reopening plan. We are taking it slow. We have a revolving cast leading the services for October. Thank you to Deacon Carl, Mel and Father Rick. The Vestry still needs to discuss WHEN we will resume in- person services. We still have to put the process in place. I do ask your indulgence over the next few months. None of this was in the Senior Warden, Junior Warden or Vestry Member's Handbook. If you have an immediate need, please reach out to myself or Beth. You can reach me at home (856-582-1113) or cell (856- 264-7079). If you have a routine need, please call the church office. I am thankful for all of the support you have given and maintained for our parish...Len Trex Bench Challenge On Hold Just a reminder: The plastics collection drive is on hold indefinitely. Thank you for continuing to collect plastics even during a pandemic. That's amazing! CONTEMPLATIVE GROUP CONTEMPLATIVE GROUP meets every Wednesday on Zoom at 10 a.m. This is currently a group of 12-13 who gather to do Contemplative Prayer, followed by a teaching and discussion. On Wednesday, August 19, we started a series called Dancing with the Shadow Self. The series presenter is Kim Nataraja, a member of the World Com- munity Center of Meditation. All are welcome. Zoom ID is 813 1796 4254. Worshipping With Us Welcome! Episcopal worship is participatory. We stand, we kneel, we speak, sometimes we sing! Please join in at your level of comfort. If youd like to learn more about what we as Episcopalians believe or if you have any ques- tions, Please send an email with your ques- tions to [email protected] or send us a letter with any questions you may have. We hope you feel welcome here and that you will come back often to feed your faith. A Word About Receiving Communion in the Episcopal Church Receiving the Eucharist in the Episcopal Church is changing. It must change in order for us to honor Gods desire for the health and well-being of all our parishioners and the law. Eucharistic distribution will probably change again if a vaccine for the treatment of the Co- rona Virus becomes available. In order for our church to open we must be responsive to the law and to your needs. But most important, we must be responsive to Gods laws of love and care. We will all be receiving the Eucharist in one kind only - the wafer. Do you need help? Cindy Taglienti is coordinating an effort for anyone who needs groceries, medicine or even food for pets. You can write on her Facebook post on the Church's Facebook page or call Beth Portocalis at 856-357-3938. During this time of uncertainty, please know that Church of the Good Shepherd will al- ways be here for you. Please email us or phone in your prayers so Mother Susan and Deacon Carl can pray for you specifically if you desire. Both of them are calling parish- ioners to check up on you and see how you are doing. We want to thank you all for con- tinuing to support Good Shepherd by mailing in your pledges. Blessings, Deacon Carl Pitman Food Pantry In the midst of this Coronavirus crisis, the Pitman Food Pantry is in crical need of food dona- ons.
