Learn to make your first quilt from beginning to finish with quilter and sewing blogger Pati Fried. Whether you are interested in traditional or modern quilting, learning to quilt begins with learning the basic techniques. This small, intimate class will cover quilting basics, along with exploring improvisation-al piecing and designing on a design wall. Add to that Pati’s favorite tips and tricks and you will have a tool belt full of tools to be on your way.

Back by popular demand, art quilter Cyndy Rymer returns this session with her picto- rial Layered Landscape quilt class. Build layers of color to bring a stunning scene to life. Choose from Cyndy’s patterns that include Mt. Diablo, Wintry (Snowy) Mt. Diablo, Emerald Bay Lake Tahoe, Sonoma Coast, Lom-bard Street, the Golden Gate Bridge and Yosemite’s Half Dome. You can get the pat-tern at Wooden Gate Quilts and choose your own fabrics. Alternately, kits including the backing, batting, and fabric pieces will be created for you for an extra charge to anyone who calls ahead. For an additional $30 Cyndy will help you create a pattern from your own photo. Please call to arrange to meet with Cyndy at least two weeks ahead of class.

PROJECT DOLL WARDROBE #1

When: Fridays, JAN 9, 16, 23, 30, FEB 6, 13, 3:30-5:00. (6–1.5 hour classes)

Practice the basics of machine sewing in this fun class where you will create several outfits for your 18” doll. Students will review the basics of sewing and will add clothes-making skills which can be transferred from doll clothes to kids clothes in the next session.

Create a pretty quilt using our Plus Quilt pattern. This is the perfect class for quilting newcomers and for improv-ing on your sewing and quilting skills. You will learn the art of reading patterns, choosing fabrics and making color choices. Cutting tech-niques, quilting basics and sewing machine skills will be covered. Some sewing may be required at home.

ONE-ON-ONE CLASSES

We are happy to announce that we will now offer individual one-on-one classes. If you want to learn basic sewing techniques or learn how to sew quilts, clothing, or oth-er fun items for yourself, or as gifts, or items for your home...we can help you! Our staff is available by appointment to work with you one-on-one on just about any proj-ect you wish to undertake. We have staff who are skilled at clothing construction and many quilting techniques. Call the shop at (925) 837-8458 to make an appointment for a private class. One-on-one class fees are $25/hour (billed at quarter hour incre-ments). Your fee will count towards your loyalty program points and you will receive a 10% discount on fabric on the day of your class.

Building on kids’ quilting skills we will add half-square triangles to their sewing knowledge. Students will be encouraged to make a quilt the size of their choosing. This can be a wonderful scrap quilt or choose a favor-ite color-way and build on it. Join Jamie and Stephanie for some Tuesday quilting fun.

KIDS–BEGINNER (PLUS)

PROJECT DOLL WARDROBE #2

Continuing with our Project Doll Wardrobe, students can create clothes for themselves to go with the doll’s new items. Additional accessories and clothes for the dolls will be included in the class. Students will prac-tice their new sewing skills with an eye to mastering the steps of these fun projects.

INTERMEDIATE

DAZZLING DIAMONDS

Instructor: Alethea Ballard

When: Saturdays, FEB 14, 21, 10:00-5:00. (2 7-hour classes)

Fee: $118 (Min 5/Max 9)

Create a dynamic, bold, star quilt using the 45 degree-point diamond. Eight diamonds go together to create an octagon block The setting blocks make alter-nate patterns. You can make single stars for a lap quilt, three layers of diamonds for a wall hanging, or more! Fussy cutting large-scale fab-rics can result in the most dazzling designs!

Levels Beginner: Beginner with little experience sewing.

Beginner Plus: Confident beginner who can use a sewing machine and has some experience with rotary cutting.

Intermediate: Intermediate quilter who is experienced with rotary cutting, sewing and some quilting techniques.

Advanced: Advanced quilter who is ready to take on more complex challenges.

KIDS Beginner: Shows an interest in sewing, is comfortable using needle and scis-sors, can follow directions and stay on task for 1 hour or more.

KIDS Beginner Plus: Confident beginner who can operate a sewing machine on their own, use scissors and an iron safely, follow directions, and stay on task for 1 hour or more.

Sign-up Policy Sign-up for classes may be done in the shop or by phone. Payment must be made at time of registration and may be cash, check, store credit, or charge.

Your confirmation receipt will indicate dates and times of your class, minimum and maximum enrollment information and cancellation policies. Students will be given a supply list after payment is received (some class kits may be given to you at the start of class by the instructor.) Books or patterns listed on the supply list will be available at the store. We must follow copyright laws. While friends may share a book or pat-tern, copies may not be used in class unless by written permission from the designer or publisher. Your class fee will count towards your loyalty points. Students receive a 10% discount on fabric on the days of class.

Cancellation Policy A minimum number of registered students will be required to hold each class (at the discretion of the instructor). To aid the scheduling process, students are encouraged to sign up early. In the event that a class does not have the minimum number of stu-dents, we will notify the students five (5) days prior to the class. If we cancel a class because of low enrollment, students will be issued a choice of a full refund in the method of payment used or a store credit for future classes or purchases.

You may cancel your place in class up to five days before the first class session. At that time, you will be issued a full refund in the method that you paid for the class or a store credit in that amount. If you cancel your place in a class less than five (5) days before the class you will receive a store credit only if we can fill your place. You may give your place in a class to a friend. Please notify us in this case. In the event of a teacher illness or schedule conflict, we will try to reschedule the class. You may receive a full refund or store credit if you are unable to make the new class dates.
