Woodburn Public School Shane’s Stuff Semester 2 Reports Student Reports for Semester 2 will be published this week. Having read through many reports already I am always thrilled to read of the children who have made a difference between one reporting period, or one year, and the next. It is interesting to observe when the stars align and students have a spurt in their academic, social or emotional growth. As in all elements of life, things happen at different times for each of us. I congratulate all students who have continued to apply themselves to their learning on a daily basis, whether the learning has come to them easily or not. Merit Assembly and Music Presentation This Friday afternoon we will hold our Term 4 Merit Assembly. This will also include a Semester 2 Music Group performance as well. Being able to celebrate the achievements of students who have continued to demonstrate learning behaviours over the term, as well as hear from the ongoing music students, is a fitting way to start our end of term celebrations. Presentation Assembly Presentation Assembly will be on Wednesday 13 December, commencing at 1:30 pm. We would like all students to please wear their navy school shirt. Big Day Out This event will be held next week to celebrate students who have consistently upheld our school values of Respect, Safety and Engagement. There are students who need to be reminded that their behaviour choices can still impact upon their attendance at this event. Some students can still show they wish to be there, whilst some who are email: [email protected] Web:www.woodburn-p.schools.nsw.edu.au Week 9 Term 4 Wednesday 6 December 2017 Ph: 66 822 502 Fax: 66 822 513 Woodburn St WOODBURN 2472 For Your Diary Week 9 4 - 8 December Thur Primary Swimming Carnival Fri Merit Assembly Sat Carols in the Park 7pm for 7:15pm performance Week 10 11- 15 December Tues Big Day Out Wed Presentation Assembly 1:30 pm Thurs Yr 6 Farewell Fri Talent Quest Last day of Term 4 You can now buy uniforms online at http://theschoollocker.com.au/ schools/woodburn-public-school

Carols in the ParkThe Woodburn Public School Choir will be singing at Carols in the Park at Riverview Park, Woodburn on Saturday 9 December 2017 (this includes all children in KB, 1R and 2J, as well as the senior choir). Our choir has been performing at this event for several years now and we have been working hard toward this performance all

term. In order for us to perform and to be a success we will need as many of the children in the Choir to attend as possible. The children are to come dressed in red, green and white clothes. They can also wear anything Christmassy e.g. a Santa hat, tinsel or antlers.

Carols in the park will begin at 7:00 pm, with our performance commencing at 7:15 pm. There will also be fireworks after Santa.Miss Suzanne JohnstonChoir Coordinator

Music Lessons @ WPS in 2018 As we conclude the 2017 school year we are thrilled to announce that due to the successful first year we will be extending the music program offered by Daniel Bennier into 2018. Places will first be filled be existing families who are finacially up to date and wheer students have successfully enagged with the program on offer. These decisions are at Daniel’s discretion.

At this point in time the costs to students/families is as follows• $15 per student as part of a group session.• $25 per student for a one-on-one lesson.

If you are interested in participating in these music lessons in 2018 for your child/ren, please complete the Expression of Interest below and return to school. A timetable of lessons will be created based on the interest shown in each instrument offered. There are limited places available and preference may be given to students wishing to continue from 2017.

All expressions of interest will be considered and 2018 groups determined from the level of interest put forward. This could mean that not all instruments run in 2018, but based on 2017 it is expected they should. (Please note that these lessons will be held during the school day and will necessitate your child/ren being withdrawn from classroom activities.)

If you would like more information on the lessons, please contact Daniel Bennier on 0437 845 814.
