Dear Woodburn Families,
November is a great month to be thankful. So
let me first thank you for participating in our
parent teacher conference week. During the
week, 96% of our families had conferences
and we have a few others scheduled beyond
this week. We are so grateful for your com-
mitment to your child’s education. Parent and
family involvement in a child’s education is
the number one factor in a student’s academ-
ic achievement.
On November 9th we held our annual Veter-
an’s Day Assembly. Our students and staff
honored those who have served our country
through song, a moment of silence, and a
reading of purpose of Veteran’s Day. Mr. Ain-
ley, our music teacher, led our students in
singing, “The Star Spangled Banner”, “Grand
Old Flag”, “America the Beautiful”, “America”,
and “God Bless America”. It was powerful to
have all the service members in attendance
stand as our students sang to them. We had a
great turn out of community members and
families in attendance.
For the month of November, we are focusing
on gratitude as our Wolf Pride character trait.
We encourage you to join with us in teaching
students to importance of showing gratitude.
Gratitude is the appreciation for the benefits
we receive from others and the desire to re-
ciprocate. Consider asking your children the
following questions: What are you grateful for
today? How can you show appreciation for
others?
As we approach Thanksgiving, I’m reminded
of how much we have to be thankful for at
Woodburn: our freedom, our teachers & staff,
our families, and our 482 wolves. We are
thankful for our wonderful volunteers who
help out in so many ways to create rich learn-
ing experiences for kids. We are thankful for
our PAWS group who organize fun events and
help to celebrate our students. We are fortu-
nate to live in a community where we enjoy
the support of our parents, businesses, and
community members. You all help to make
Woodburn a great school.
If you ever have any questions or concerns, feel free to call me 833-5860 ext. 78221 or email me at [email protected].
Make every day count!
