To avoid risk of electrical shock,the dishwasher must be electricallygrounded before it is operated.

Do not touch heating unit duringor immediately after use. Allow time tocool.

Load sharp or pointed tableware withhandles up (points down) to avoid injurywhen reaching into dishwasher.

Load sharp items and knives so theyaren't likely to damage door seal.

Do not sit or stand on or abusedishwasher door or dishracks.

• Do not allow children to play in or ondishwasher.

• When discarding old dishwasher,be sure to remove door to preventaccidental entrapment.

• Do not install the dishwasher oncarpeted floor.

Under certain conditions, hydrogen gasmay build up in a hot water system thathas not been used for two weeks or more.HYDROGEN GAS IS EXPLOSIVE. Toprevent injury or damage, before usingdishwasher, turn on all hot water faucetsand allow water to run for severalminutes. This will allow gases to escape.As the ga_sis flammable, do not smoke oruse an open flame or appliance nearfaucets while they are open.

NOTE: Do not store or use combustible

materials, gasoline or bther flammablevapors and liquids in the vicinity of thisor any other appliance.

Agua Caliente

Para limpiar y secar los platos usted necesitaagua caliente. Para ayudarle a usted a obteneragua a una temperatura aproplada, sulavadora de platos calienta el aguaautom_ticamente en el clclo de lavado. STARTING YOUR DISHWASHER

• Load the dishwasher (see pages 10 and 11)..4" .... --"

• If dishwasher drains into a food waste

disposer, operate disposer until it is empty.

• Turn on hot water faucet nearest dishwasherand let it run until the water is hot.

HOT DRY Option

Turns drying heating unit on forfast drying.

COOL DRY Option

Turns heating unit off for entiredrying period. To shorten dryingtime, open dishwasher doorslightly.

NORMAL SIGHTS ANDSOUNDS

• You'll see water vapor coming throughthe vents by the door latch during dryingand when water is being pumped out.

• You'll hear occasional sounds while yourdishwasher is running:

• Soft food disposer shredding action.

• Drain valve opening to pump waterout.

• Timer control as cycle progresses.

• Detergent cup opening.

• Pump motor startfng.

• The motor stops during drying.

ENERGY AND WATER SAVINGTIPS

• Wash full loads.

• Use your dishwasher during off-peakhours.

• Use the LIGHT WASH cycle wheneverpossible.

• Select COOL DRY option when youdon't need dry dishes in a hurry.

• Don't prerinse normally soiled dishes.

• Load correctly to ensure good washingaction.

HOW TO ADD A DISH DURINt_A cYCLE

• Add dishes any'time during RINSE &HOLD cycle.

• With other wash cycles, you can adddishes at any time BEFORE thedetergent cup has opened.

Here's how to add a forgotten dish:

1. Push door latch to the left. Washing willstop.

2. Wait a few seconds until the _,ater

calms. Then open the door.

3. Add' dishes you've forgotten.

PREPARING DISHES FORWASHING

Prerinsing of normal food soil is notnecessary.

• Scrape off bones, seeds, skins,toothpicks and other hard soils.

• Remove hard shelled vegetables,meat trimmings, leafy vegetables, andexcessive amounts of oil or grease.

• Remove foods with high acid content--they can discolor stainless steel. ,.---

Remove large quantities of any food_

D When using the HEAVY WASH cycle,less preparation is required. This cyclecan wash heavily-soiled dishes andremove dried-on and baked-on soils

from pots, pans and casseroles.However, items with burned-on soilsmay not come clean.

UPPER RACK (appearance will varY)

The upper rack is best for.glasses, cupsand saucers. Cups andglasses fit best •along the sides. This is also the place fordishwasher safe plastics. Make sure smallplastic items are lodged in tightly so theycan't fall onto the heating unit. Arrangestemware so that it cannot move easily.Don't let the glasses touch each other.

The upper rack is handy for all kinds ofodd shapes. Saucepans, mixing l_owlsand other items •should be placed facedovvn.When loading diShwasher-safe •plastics makesure each plastic item is :.secured over two fingers. Thiswill ihstJre ;

• Remove access panel.

• Disconnect water lines from valve. Draininto a flat pan.

If an air gap was installed for your built-indishwasher, check to make sure it isclean. Air gaps are usually mounted onthe countertop and can; be inspected byremoving the cover. Theair gap is not partof your dishwasherand is not covered bySears warranty.

PREPARATION FOR MOVING

• Disconnect electrical power.

Turn off water supply, disconnect waterand drain lines.

• Tape racks in place; close door securelyand tape it shut.

SOLUTION :

• Check house fuse or circuit breaker.

• Make sure Dial is turned far enough andcycle button is fully pushed in.

• Be careful You do not turn-the Dial anyfarther than necessary. There is a delaybetween start-up and water fill so you willnot hear any wash action right away.

• See the solution above.

• Make sure water supply valve under sink isturned on.

• Water valve supply line may be clogged withsediment. Clean out ....

•Utensils may not be secure on rack pins,or something small may have dropped fromthe rack. Water is causing utensils to rattle.

•Make sure everything is securely placedin dishwasher.

Level dishwasher as described in Installation

Instructions. Don't place dishwasher on carpet.

• Improper detergent. Use automatic• dishwasher detergent only or try a

different brand or less detergenL

• if hand dishwashing deter_;ent is used bymistake, pour one measunng cup of ...vegetable oil in bottom of'tub and run ;dishwasher through a complete NORMALWASH cycle with recommended amount ofautomatic dishwashing detergent.

*To remove suds from tub: Open•dishwasher.•Let suds evaporate. Add 1 gallon of coldwater to tub. Close and latch dishwasher.Pump outwater by slowlyturningDial untila•drain period is reached. Repeat if necessary.

• Spilled rinse agent can cause foam duringwashing. This can lead to overflowing. •Wipeup ac.cidental spill of rinse agent with adamp cloth.

• Make sure door does not touch cabinetswhen opening or closing: Use levelling legsto level dishwasher.

SOLUTION

• Raise water heater thermostat to 140°F ifnecessary.

• Do not select COOL DRY option. Allowdishes to dry in heated air.

• Load dishes so items drain properly. Avoidoverloading.

• Fill rinse agent dispenser if empty.

• Fill detergent cups to capacity. Use dishwasherdetergent with highest available phosphorouscontent. May be necessary to install a watersoftener.

• Raise water heater thermostat to 140°F.

• Drying without heat may cause somespotting. Do not select COOL DRY option.

• Use more fresh automatic dishwasherdetergent. Use detergent with highestavailable phosphorous content,

especially if you have hard water.

• Use only fresh, automatic dishwasherdetergent. Store tightly Closed in a cool, dryplace. Discard old, lumpy or separated

• detergent. Do not fill detergent dispenseruntil ready to wash.

• Fill rinse agent dispenser.

Select HEAVY WASH cycle.

Start the dishwasher and allow to run for18 to 20:minutes. The dishwasher will now

Then open the door and pour 2 cups(500 ml)•white vinegar into bottom ofdishwasher.

6. Close the door and allow to complete thecycle.

If vinegar rinse doesn't work: Repeat asabove, except use 1/4 cup (60 ml) of citricacid crystals instead of vinegar. (Mostdrugstores carry citric acid crystals.)

SOLUTION .,.--

• Reduce amount of dishwasher detergent,Use detergent with lower phosphorous content.

• Make sure dishes and glassware are loadedproperly to permit water spray to rinse allsurfaces. Do not overload.

• It isnormal for a smatl amount of clean Waterto remain in bottom of tub after each cycle.

• Clean the drain air gap. See UserMaintenance Instructions.

• Install an iron or manganese filter in homewater supply.

• Use fresh, automatic dishwasher detergent.Use detergent with highest availablephosphorous content, especially if you havehard water. Raise water heater thermostat to140°F if necessary. Run water at sink until hotbefore starting dishwasher. Remove film withdishwashing detergent and warm water.

• Avoid spilling dry detergent on wetsilverware. Clean with silver polish.

• Use RINSE & HOLD cycle. Certain foods lefton silverware for extended periods of time m_cause pitting.

• Remove tarnish with silver polish.

• Load metal utensils so they do not rub againstdishes. Marks may be removed with mildabrasive cleanser and plastic scouring pad.

Dishware chipped •Improper loading •Do not overload. Load glasses in _ppei" rackor broken only. See Loading section for tips.

Dishwasher odor • Soiled dishes heldtoo long in ..dishwasher

• Vinyl rack coating

• Use RINSE & HOLD cycle if dishes will not bewashed at end of day.

SOLUTION

• If you do not use your dishwasher often,set it to fill and pump out once every week.

• This will help keep the seal moist and the •garbage disposer clear.

• This will discolor the tub interior with extended

use. Check the detergent dispenser for Signsof any discoloration. If dispenser is discolored,change to detergent without any colorant.

• Using the RINSE & HOLD cycle after addingdish to the load can decrease the level of staining.

• This is a normal occurrence.

, Dial must be in OFF position for cup lid toclose and latch properly. If you unlatch thedoor and open it todry your dishes, the Dialdoes not advance to OFF by itself.
