HEARD…they have the wrong notionthat whatever they put out would beaccepted. Not this time, however.
Their effort has come in for a lot ofcondemnation, with many referring totheir creation as cheap, putrid and awhole lot of rubbish…with some evengoing to the extent of describing it as theworst match song ever.
Others say it's the same beat, tune andtone they keep using for all their songs.
Obviously, staleness is now setting inand it's only through desperation thatsuch songs are churned out.

DJ, and on his equally popularmorning transmission, he usedto chat with various personali-ties, including some of thecountry's top cricketers.
Being a huge cricket fan,Brad, who now lives in Sydney,gives us his thoughts on theWorld Cup and Sri Lanka'schances of winning the Cup fora second time.
Taking a look at the presentSri Lankan unit, one wouldn'tbe surprised if we win theWorld Cup, simply based on thecombination we have - experi-ence and youth. The greatAravinda De Silva should becommended for the well-bal-anced squad he has picked.
In my opinion there areeight players who MUST playin all the matches if we are totake the Cup.
The dashing opener,Dilshan, the two world classbatsmen, Mahela and Sanga,our quality young all-rounders,Mathews and Perera, and thetight, varied and dangerousbowling unit of Murali,Malinga and Kulasekara - prob-ably the best bowling attackSri Lanka has ever had. Thebowling department can foxany team.
Tactics - straight forward -the openers should set thestage by dominating in the first10 overs. Mahela and Sangaboth, or at least one of them,MUST bat right till the end ofour innings in all the matches,and Matthews and Pererashould be given the freedom toattack at any cost, whileTharanga, and in particular,Samaraweera, should bat as theanchor - to hold one end.
The seniors should takeresponsibility and not throw
their wickets but play solidcricket. The role played by bothAravinda and Arjuna, in the '96World Cup, is a perfect exampleof what should be expectedfrom our seniors. The wayMahela batted in Hambantotaagainst Canada made it quiteclear that he means business.
No matter what the opposi-tion is, that's the attitude SriLanka needs and, importantly,that's the attitude our playershave - that's why we can winthe World Cup again.

announcing plans for a special Good MorningAmerica performance on March 29th, 2011.
Speaking in a taped segment on GoodMorning America, on February 28th, 2011, thesinger announced the exclusive show, saying,"I'm excited to tell you on Tuesday morning,March 29, I'll be performing for the first timeever in a special concert in San Francisco'shistoric Castro district on 'Good MorningAmerica.' It's just impossible to count thenumber of cricket songs that havebeen released by Sri Lankan
artistes in connection with the WorldCup cricket, now in full swing inIndia, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
Buy what is so amusing is thatmost of these cricket songs havebeen given the tag, ICC World Cuptheme song/official song, etc.
There's only one official anthem,and that's the song one sees regularlyon the screen during match play, orwhenever the World Cup is beingadvertised.
Star Indian musicians, Shankar,Ehsaan and Loy, are responsible forthe official theme song for the WorldCup - 'De Ghuma Ke'. And right now,this particular song is the rage, and Iwon't be surprised if it becomes anawesome hit in the discos as well.
Now how did this trio get aboutcreating such a catchy song!
According to Shankar, they were
contemplating on the approach theyshould take: Should it be an anthemlike theme, or should it be a dancesong!

'De Ghuma Ke' is aimed at tran-scending the boundaries of language,and being synonymous with theexcitement and the massive eventappeal that the World Cup brings tocricket fans across the globe.
According to Loy, the whole ideawas to make the song travel andreach many people so that they allcan absorb it and react to it.
There are three versions of 'DeGhuma Ke' - Hindi, Bangla andSinhala - and this is to ensure thatthe fans in the host nations can reactto it.
The Hindi version, sung by
Shankar and Diya Kumar, is a block-buster of a track and just the rightchoice for cricket lovely cricket!
Ehsaan says the catch phrase forthe song has been taken from thestreets of the subcontinent and rep-resents all what it takes to win amatch.
'De Ghuma Ke' is certainly a mod-ern-sounding song, with a very con-temporary beat.
It's catchy and has a mainstreamappeal.
These are the kind of songs thatwe need to work on as anthems, or astheme songs. Most of the cricketsongs, churned out locally, are ofvery poor quality - both lyrics andmusic wise.
Just read some of the commentson YouTube and you'll know what Imean.
A couple of weeks ago, PresidentMahinda Rajapaksa had to step inand ban the airing of a World Cupsong, performed by a Sri Lankanartiste.
The song, according to the govern-ment, makes derogatory referencesto defending champions, Australia,as well as earthquake-hit NewZealand,
The President had heard theSinhala and Tamil mixed song whenhe was in Hambantota, to watch SriLanka play their opening matchagainst Canada, and felt that it wasin bad taste.
