“Gathering Nature” Artwork by Paul R. Kampa
Since 1986, The WATER Foundation (TWF) has touted a Conservation Pays™ message. With the novel, practical consumer education programs syndicated across America, TWF makes millions of media impressions for conservation each year. TWF icon, Bog Frog®, is the leading conservation mascot in the USA. TWF founder David Winkelman summarizes the essence of company's mission:
"Over the past century, corporate and individual focus on profits has caused a neglect of ecology. We know that an effective way to turn this around is to focus on new profits to be earned from conservation products, services and technologies. There are products and services now available that help reduce our impact on nature, yet yield good return on investments. We help individuals, small businesses and large corporations launch these conservation initiatives that help improve their bottom lines."

Queen Cleopatra's beauty was legendary. She enthralled Julius Caesar and, Mark Anthony. And Egyptian and Roman writers proclaimed her the most beautiful woman of the day. Yet, portraits of Cleopatra show her with a prominent nose and a large forehead. So what were her great secrets of beauty? This is Clare Waters with Natural Ways. Cleopatra used some of the secrets of nature, like her famous sour milk baths. Would you like to know about other natural skin cleansers and fresheners that could make you more beautiful? Well, standby and we’ll get beautiful together, right after this.
Welcome back to Natural Ways. There are many wonderful beauty secrets in nature-like Fruit Acid as a facial cleanser. Lemon juice is particularly nice as a general -purpose facial cleanser, and for oilier skin, strawberries are good. Squeeze or mash the fruit to obtain the juice, dab it onto your fingers and pat it on your face, be careful to avoid your eyes. Leave it on for about ten minutes then rinse. Other fruits that work well are apples, blackberries, grapes, oranges, grapefruit and tomatoes. An external fruit salad for beauty…. But standby, there's more!
Cleopatra probably didn't know that milk also contains an Alpha Hydroxyl Acid called lactic acid, but she knew it worked to keep her beautiful. To enhance the other fruit cleansers, try adding a few drops of mashed avocado for really dry skin, or a tablespoon of witch hazel for oily skin. We've found many wonderful beauty options in nature, and there are undoubtedly more we haven't even discovered yet - another good reason to protect our environment. My friend Bog Frog says "Ribbit, remember--Conservation Pays! Ribbit!" So tune in tomorrow for more Natural Ways.
