Dear church family and friends, The heart of the gospel is redemption. Many words come to mind: grace, forgiveness, second chances, new starts, etc. God’s choicest servants are great examples. Moses, Joseph, Jonah, David, Peter, Paul and John-Mark (Mark) to name only a few.
We see redemption in Paul’s missionary journeys. It happens over a period of ten years, covering over 8,000 miles by sea and on foot. It is a living laboratory where Paul practices his faith in almost every possible life experience. He faces illness, danger, physical attacks, imprisonment, disagreement with fellow servants, doubt, discouragement, joy, answered prayer, the spread of the gospel across the world, etc. On Paul’s first journey, the mission team is made up of Paul, Barnabas, and John-Mark. John-Mark quits and goes home, endangering the entire mission. After the first journey is over, Barnabas wants to give John-Mark a second chance and take him on the second missionary journey. Paul refuses. Barnabas leaves with John-Mark. Paul is the only one left, just as he begins the second journey. This looks like an impossible obstacle. Paul recruits Silas. Later, Timothy joins him and then Luke. Barnabas takes John-Mark with him on a different mission trip. Interestingly, Barnabas takes John-Mark to the very places where John-Mark quit previously. God allows John-Mark to face his demons and discouragement and grow in his faith. One day, John-Mark composes the Gospel of Mark. Paul’s new recruits, Timothy and Luke, are instrumental in the writing of I and II Timothy and the books of Luke and Acts. Instead of three missionaries, there are now six. Instead of one mission team, there are two. My brothers and sisters, we are redeemed by God! Claim it in the name of Jesus! Together, let us advance the Kingdom of God!
See you on Sunday. Love, Pastor Mike

Thanksgiving
Bible Study
Join us as we study scriptures of praise & thanksgiving
in preparation for celebrating Thanksgiving Day 2016 -
much like we prepare for Christmas each year, by
observing Advent.
* NOTEBOOKS will be available this Sun., Nov. 6.
This 2-week S.O.A.P. Bible study will be Nov. 10 - 24.
Each participant will receive a notebook listing the
scriptures for each day. If you prefer, the notebook can
be emailed to you. We will not be meeting as a group—
this Bible study is designed in such a way that each of
us will study the same scripture passage on our own on
each of the 15 days leading up to Thanksgiving:
(S - scripture, O - observations, A - application,
P - prayer).
You will also have the option of sharing any insights
God has shown you on a special closed Facebook page
for our group. Sign up on your communication card or
contact Diana Roberts, Margie Horton or Terry Winters.

Thank you to the Jubilation Ringers and the Sanctuary Choir
for the beautiful music on Sunday morning. “Majesty and
Glory” is one of my all-time favorite choir anthems because it
is pure praise for who God is—our Creator, Sustainer,
Provider, Savior, Friend.
I would also like to thank my sisters—Lisa, Leslie and Lori for
joining me to sing some songs! Wow! I am one blessed person.
I really appreciate the love and warmth that you (WBC
congregation) extended to all of my family before and after
worship yesterday. WBC is a special place.
Next Sunday, we will observe Holy Communion during
worship. The choir will sing “How Beautiful” for the anthem—
another of my all-time favorites. Later on in November, we will
hear special music from Russell Cyphers and Mark Clark. And,
we have a special treat in store with a young musician from
Union HS—Matthew Rhoten. Matthew plays tenor sax and will
accompany the choir on a new anthem entitled “Can’t Carry
These Burdens Alone”.
Please remember to mark your calendar for Sunday,
December 4 at 7 pm— “Let There Be Christmas” will be
presented by the Sanctuary choir and orchestra.
The Jubilation Ringers will perform at The Inn again this year
on Friday, December 2. Stay tuned for more details.
I give thanks for each of you and for this church. I am praying
for you this week; pray for each other, too.
Blessings,
Leigh
Thank you, Lori, for the wonderful meal last night. This Sunday, Susan Mullins will provide our meal.
Last night our Bible study focused on Philip, the logical disciple. Phillip was always very rational in
his approach. Jesus helped him to realize that logic and reason are good and important but that they are not enough. As
disciples, we also need faith (believing without seeing). We need to know Jesus through a personal relationship and recognize
and remember what He has done in our lives. Through our study of the disciples, we have discovered that Jesus met each one
right where they were at! He accepted their strengths and weaknesses and helped them grow.
You know what? He does exactly the same thing with each of us! Isn’t that amazing!
Good luck this week to the Central One Act Team. There will be a public performance on Thursday at Central at 7 pm.
Hope to see you on Wednesday and Sunday! Friends are always welcome!
The Flamingos took flight and landed in the
Crutchfield’s front yard!
TRUNK or TREAT 2016! Children of ALL ages had a great time trick-or-treating from trunk to trunk
in the church parking lot last Wednesday night! Many thanks to everyone
who contributed candy, decorated a trunk, &/or brought children to the
event. We appreciate Rite Aid of Pound participating this year by donating
candy & decorating a trunk!
