OUR RESOLUTIONS

Help Thou me, Oh Lord, to keep

My resolutions through each week,

And help each day, that I may send

A ray of light to those in sin.

Help us Lord, then as a group

That we may not indulge or stoop,

To fondle sin for love or fame

And bring reproach upon Thy name.

But grant we pray, through sin’s dark night

That we may send the gospel light,

To souls that’s burdened down with sin

And point them to that Heavenly Inn.

Hear us then, Oh Lord Divine

That our will may conform to Thine,

Build Thou strong our constitutions

And help us keep our resolutions.

John Prince

This poem was written in 1945 by Reverend John Prince who

served many Wise Baptist Association Churches. We appreciate his

son, Dr. John M. Prince, sharing this poem.

Just do the right thing now; don’t worry about the

future. Regardless of how severely the winds of

adversity my blow, we set our sails toward joy.

Thank You Wise Baptist Church

Thank you for the kindness and love you showered on Jane and me over the past sixteen months. As

I have shared with you previously, in thirty five years of ministry, no congregation has been kinder

or more loving toward us. Several families made sure I did not go hungry after Sunday worship and

at other times! Special bonds were formed during those meals. And we were blessed to be guests in

more than a few homes.

In the final days of our time in Wise, generous gifts were given. Thank you for your kindness. Many

of these gifts will remind us of our time in Wise:

The Beautiful Photograph of a Rainbow Arching over the WBC Sanctuary

The Camp Bethel Sweatshirt (Wonder who that was from???)

The UVA-Wise Shirt and Mugs

The Wise, Virginia Mug

The ―Music of Coal‖ and other Regional CDs

The ―Papa Joe‖ Smiddy CD Set

There are more, but I will stop there. Thank you for the gifts, cards and expressions of love.

I hope you share my feeling that much was accomplished for the Lord during our sixteen months

together. Some of these things are not particularly exciting, but were needed in order to advance

Kingdom work at WBC:

New Governing Documents were Developed and Approved by the Congregation

Needed Organizational Structure was put in Place

Excellent Ministries were Continued and Enhanced

The Identity of the Congregation was Clarified

The Qualities the Congregation feels are needed in a new Pastor were Set Forth in order to Guide

the Search Committee

Jane and I will be in prayer with you as you move forward. The Search Committee will be

reengaging soon. WBC is a special congregation and we trust God already has identified that Pastor

who will recognize that Wise is God’s place of service for he and his family. Our prayer is that the

WBC Church family will be patient as that man becomes the focus of the Search Committee’s atten-

tion.

We look forward to staying in touch with any who desire to stay in touch with us. Who knows, you

might see us at ―Fall Fling‖ sooner rather than later!!!

In Christ’s Love,

Pastor Bill
