Netball:• Well done to Year 12 (with the fantastic Scarlett Johnson and Scarlett

Bulatovic joining the team from Year 11) who lost narrowly by 2 goals to St Benedict’s. It was a thrilling game and they all played brilliantly but the player of the match went to Lucy Jacks.

• Year 13 lost 20-13 to St Benedict’s but won the last quarter. Absolutely superb performances with player of the match going to Isabella Lill.

• Well done to the Year 7A and Year 8A Netball teams for both winning against Elthorne school. Standout players were Rebekah Colinese and Nia Lee for their excellent defence.

• We are very much looking forward to taking the KS4 netball squads to England vs Australia at the Copper box in Stratford Monday 22nd January. Come on England!

• Keep up the excellent numbers at training and good luck to Year 9 at their tournament on the 24th January and to Year 11 against St Augustine and West London Free School next week.

Sport Report

Badminton:Year 8 are Badminton Borough champions

and will represent Ealing in the London youth games. Well done to the team, we will keep you updated with their progress.

Basketball:Huge congratulations to the Yr 9 and 10 Basketball team who put up a strong fight to Acton High Yr 11 team. Both teams were even the whole way, but unfortunately in the end Twyford lost by 4 points. However the Acton team were made up of year 11s, so the fact the game was so close

was a great achievement. Absolute standouts were Daniel Alawode, Makhai Dawkins, Tommy Svanidza and Henry Okenla.

Football:A big well done to the U18s, 1st 11 who

beat Cardinal Wiseman 2-0 and have now qualified for the Quarter finals for

the Middlesex cup. Excellent effort!

Drama

A huge well done to Tyler Davis (Year 13) who along with his group Spirit Young Performers Company (photograph below) were awarded a prestigious full scholarship with ‘The Stage’ 2017-18.

The Stage Scholarships have been running for more than 20 years, helping many hundreds of young people follow their dreams, with former winners going on to work in shows ranging from Wicked in the West End to Robert Icke’s production of Oresteia.

Spirit Young Performers Company will be performing at ‘The Stage Scholarship Awards’ on Friday 26th January. We wish Tyler and his group the very best of luck and I am sure it will not be long until we see them on the West End!

Frantic Assembly Workshop with Y10On Friday 12h January, Year 10 GCSE Drama students took

part in a Frantic Assembly workshop with one of their talented practitioners, Paolo. The workshop taught the

students some of the basics Frantic Assembly techniques and they will be able to use these skills from in their own

Devised Performance work over the coming months.

‘Things I know to be True’ at The LyricOn Tuesday 16th January we went to watch Things I know to be True with our Y12 and 13 Drama students. It was an absolutely outstanding performance, we were all gripped from start to finish and a few of us (including myself and Ms Ighorae!) shed a tear in the final scenes! If you get a chance to see it, I would highly recommend it, we all agreed that it is one of the best performances we have seen for some time.

Future Linguists club:On Wednesday the 10th of January, the Future Linguists club kicked off again, with Miss César bringing a very special cake; the “galette des rois” (King’s cake). At the start of January, French families celebrate Epiphany by eating this delicious cake together. The tradition dictates that in one of the slices, the baker has hidden a trinket… Whoever finds it in their slice is crowned King or Queen for the day! To avoid cheating whilst the cake is being sliced, the youngest person in the family goes under the table, and says which slice of the cake should go to whom. Maysa Brice (Y7) was crowned queen! A special thank you to Dylan Hodgson, our Year 12 helper. All year 7 and 8 students are welcome to join the club.

Upcoming events in Languages:• UK Linguistics Olympiads - any Y11, 12 or 13 students interested

in joining should contact Effie Webb or Maya Dhillon (Y13 students) or Miss César.

• Our Y12 French class are going to the BFI on the 31/01 with Miss César, for a French film workshop (Le Cinéma Français: Contemporary Dramas and the Nouvelle Vague)

• The Y10 French exchange is fast approaching – we will be hosting French students from Lyon from Thursday 1st February – Thursday 8th February. Our Y10 students will travel to Lyon, France from Saturday 19th May – Friday 25th May.

Engineering Taster Day at British Airways

On the 14th of December, a group of girls who are all interested in

Engineering attended a British Airways Engineering taster day.

Geetanjali Biswas, in Year 12, who attended the day, summarised the

experience:“The taster day provided us with a new perspective on aeronautical, design and

software engineering and the vast amounts of effort that goes into place to make

everything run smoothly and safely. For students aspiring to be engineers it is

already extremely difficult- even more so as a woman- however, our experience at BA

showed that at the end of the day, it doesn't matter who you are or how smart you are; it's not always your grades that

gets you places, it's your interests and your work ethic that drives you to your final

destination.”

Please find information below about the upcoming External Speaker talks in Science. Please speak to Mrs Hunter for further information:
