LEADing in Crisis is an initiative of LEAD, a non-profit Christian Leadership Organization that nurtures leaders with a deep, bold, consequential faith. LEAD provides resources, consulting, and coaching focused on nurturing spiritual practices and leadership that transform faith communities and influence the world. HOW TO ENGAGE WHO IS THIS FOR? WHY TO ENGAGE LEADing in Crisis is for anyone who is a leader in a faith community. LEAD is a Christian organization with an expansive and inclusive view of faith and also departs from an understanding of who God is through the person of Jesus. Those serving in leadership roles are invited to participate. This includes lay leaders, clergy, ministers, deacons, paid staff, volunteer leaders, etc. LEADing in Crisis will begin with a Facebook Group ( LEADing in Crisis: Holistic Care for Faith Leaders) that posts daily messages for group members. Currently, the Facebook Group is the primary place of communication and connection. There are plans to provide additional resources and utilize other digital platforms to engage this community. During times of crisis, a lot of attention and time is given to the tasks of leading. While this is important, it's also critical for leaders to attend to their holistic health. Rates of burnout and mental health issues increase in times of crisis. This group and these resources are designed to combat the tendency for leaders to neglect self in the midst of caring for others.

Growing up, David got a front row seat to learn about leadership, watching how the ministry andleadership of both his father and grandfather positively shaped many communities of faith. He servesas Pastor of Spirit of Joy! Lutheran Church in The Woodlands, TX (outside of Houston), where he liveswith his wife Megan, their daughter, and their herd of cats. Spirit of Joy! is an energetic congregation, inviting people to deeper faith and meaningful community. David felt the call to ordained ministryearly in his life. After studying theology at Roanoke College, he received his Master of Divinity degreefrom the School of Theology at the University of the South (Sewanee). When not preaching andteaching for the Lutheran diaspora in Texas, David is helping to invite the church into the digital age –teaching congregations and leaders to make use of online tools for ministry. For the last ten years hehas helped congregations and church leaders use new tools to share the old story of Jesus and tobuild community.
