Who are we?
Mission: The Pre-Veterinary Medical Association at Oregon State University (aka: PVMA at OSU) is one of the largest clubs at Oregon State University. The purpose of our club is to further the knowledge of OSU students who are interested in the field of Veterinary Medicine. Our focus is to develop programs that will assist pre-vet students in succeeding on their challenging path to vet school. Volunteer opportunities to gain veterinary experience and fun club activities are just some of the things our officers are working hard to offer.

Meeting Schedule for Fall 2017
All Meetings are on Tuesdays at 7:00 P.M. in Magruder Hall, Room 298:

All tours are at 12pm, located in Magruder Hall.
Please arrive 5-10 minutes early.
Limit of 10 persons per tour.
Attire will be closed toed shoes!

Humane Society Volunteering
•Experience handling cats, dogs, rabbits, birds and other small pets.
•Pre-Vet volunteers often have special privileges .
•Learn important clinical and husbandry skills.

Wildlife and Exotics Volunteering
•Work closely with native birds and mammal species or exotics, reptiles, and amphibians
•Diversify animal handling experiences
•Opportunity to focus on birds, especially raptors
Chintimini Wildlife Center: •Minimum commitment: one 4 hour shift/week for 6 months•Located 5 miles north of Corvallis •Website: www.chintiminiwildlife.org

Brad’s World Reptiles:•Need to devote 4 hr. shifts a couple times a week•Apply online: http://bradsworldreptiles.com (website having trouble)•6 miles north of Corvallis, need own transportation
Bit By Bit Adaptive Riding
•They need volunteers!
•Especially for Thursday evening shifts.
•Great way to get exposure to horses.

• Help with chores around the farm and socialize with animals

Fences for Fido•Volunteer Days: Saturdays and Sundays, located in cities across Oregon and Washington
•Build fences for chained and tethered dogs

•Builds usually last 3-4 hours

Why Volunteer?
• To serve our community, help animals, and represent OSU
• To broaden our awareness of animals in our community
• To gain experience hours for veterinary school applications and letters of recommendation, and to make connections
• To gain credit for school to finish degree
• Volunteering can lead to jobs in certain clinics and locations

Member of the Term
•Member of the Term is our way of recognizing someone who is exceptionally dedicated to and involved in PVMA.
•Member of the Term points are awarded when you attend member meetings, volunteer trips, activities, clinics, and workshops, as well as assist in fundraising activities and more!
•Two Members of the Term will be recognized during Week 9 of each term and awarded a small prize of their choice!
