We received our 2018 NAPLAN results last week and from inial evaluaon these results show that our students Reading Growth from Year 3 to Year 5 is extremely pleasing. This means that the improvement students make in reading over me, in Years 3, 4 and 5 at Glengala are beer than those of the naonal average. This is excellent news. We have Reading as the focus of all our school goals, and Decision Making, and we are starng to see improvement over our long term trends. We will share this data in greater detail on Krisreturn. I thank all our staff, students and families for your connued support of our wonderful school. SWIMMING NEXT WEEK – SEE THE TIMETABLE ON PAGE 2 FOR YOUR CHILDS SWIMMING TIMES A reminder that with Swimming Program beginning next week and running right through to the end of term, here are a few handy hints to make this me as easy to manage as possible; PLENTY OF SLEEP- Swimming Program is ring and students can become sick or cranky if they arent geng enough sleep to reboot for the next day. Going to bed early will help them energised to make it through the 2 week program. EATING HEALTHY AND NUTRITIOUS FOODS- Plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables will give them the energy they need to make it through the 2 week program. Packing an extra sandwich will help if they become extra hungry during the day, or it could be an easy aſter school snack if they dont eat it at school. DRY TOWEL, CHANGE OF CLOTHES AND UNDERWEAR, DAILY- It is handy to keep an emergency set of clothes either at school or in their swimming bag. Somemes dry clothes fall into puddles in the change room or get temporarily packed away in another students bag. CLEARLY LABEL ALL CLOTHING WITH STUDENTS FULL NAME. When 30 school tops get taken off all at once, it can be difficult to find the right owner. Fully named clothing is easy to return. Students with long hair may find it easier to have their hair braided at home, leave the braids in and wash their hair when they get home again. There are no hair-drying facilies or showers to wash hair in the me allocated. A reminder that swimming is part of the PE curriculum (Year 6) and therefore non-aendance may impact on your child's PE achievement report.
