BLOOM ENERGY 10 Sustainability Indicators 1) Representative Management Team Bloom Energy was started by Dr. K R Sridhar who immigrated to the United States in the 1980’s to pursue his doctorate studies. The Company was formed after the technology was used for nasa on mars. Dr. Sridar is currently CEO of Bloom Energy. Bloom Energy’s Operations, Marketing and Legal departments are all headed by Executives who are women. 2) Sustainable Energy Creation Using More Sustainable Practices Bloom Energy’s mission is to create safe, affordable clean energy to everyone on the planet. The Bloom Energy Server creates a third of the emissions of a coal powered power plant and half the emissions of one powered by natural gas. 3) External Auditing for Slavery and Trafficking Practices Bloom energy has a commitment to Human Rights. It is committed to using suppliers that do not engage in slavery or trafficking activities as outlined in Bloom Energy’s Global Business Partner Standards. 4) Internal Auditing of Company Policies Bloom is also committed to keeping their internal business practices to the utmost ethical standards. Bloom is committed to making ethical decisions by asking three questions. Is it legal? Does it follow our policy? Would you want the public to know about it? If the answer is no to any of those they do not proceed. The OECD also has guidelines for due diligence and managing systems. 6) Transparency in Supply chain Bloom Energy knows that the world of business differs from country to country. Bloom Energy’s Global Code of Business Conduct and Global Business Partner Standards shows employees and Partners exactly how Bloom Energy chooses to do business. Knowing that situations come up. Bloom energy has created a hotline for ethics questions. 7) Commitment to Fair Dealing Bloom Energy’s Anti-Corruption Policy as well as their policies regarding gifts make it clear that they have a commitment to establishing practices which show transparency when dealing with international suppliers. It is important to have have conflicts of interest and to recognize red flags when they arise. 8) Protect Information Bloom Energy is committed to keeping private information confidential for all of its customers, collaborators and employees. The company chooses to protect all information equally. 9) Commitment to Environment and Safety Not only are Bloom Energy’s products more sustainable than their competitors. They also use almost no water whatsoever. Bloom Energy Server also provides a Biogas option which is carbon neutral. 10) Philanthropy Bloom Energy has a commitment to providing clean energy to the world. It also has a policy of charitable contribution guidelines to insure that its charitable giving is sincere and legitimate.
