PABC - 2018 Rich's Review

He gave Himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to cleanse for Himself a people

for His own possession, eager to do good works. Titus 2:14

The verse above served as our launch pad for a biblical survey of God’s redemptive plan for mankind. Now, you can check this space each month in 2019 for a discipleship point based on Paul’s words to Titus. My goal is to grow in a number of ways. First, to more fully appreciate God’s wisdom to be gained in His Word. Also, to grow in commitment to God’s redemptive mission for His disciples (Matthew 28:18-20). And, to be challenged to live each day for His glory. I hope you will join in this journey of discipleship. You know I am a big fan and practitioner of daily devotions, reading through the whole Bible every year. Every year I challenge our church to choose a plan and keep a commitment to read the Word daily. We also need the input of other disciples who are struggling and growing. They share insights that encourage, as well as, instruct us with fresh perspectives. When we have a theme verse, like Titus 2:14, there is greater opportunity to share common questions and lessons. God’s gift of fellowship blesses our lives. This month’s point is about prayer. Who is it in your life that needs to know God’s redemption? Take a moment as the new year begins to do a friends and family inventory. Do you know if they have a relationship with Jesus? Pray each day for God’s Spirit to soften their hearts. Look for opportunities to speak His love into their lives. Invite them to read the Bible or to attend worship. You will see that God transforms lives, yours and theirs. I am blessed to be your pastor, Rich

2019 Ministry/Memory Verses Titus 2 11 For the grace of God has appeared with salvation for all people, 12 instructing us to deny godlessness and worldly lusts and to live in a sensible, righteous, and godly way in the present age, 13 while we wait for the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ. 14 He gave Himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to cleanse for Himself a people for His own possession, eager to do good works. 15 Say these things, and encourage and rebuke with all authority. Let no one disregard you.

This is a significant date and marks the first Sunday Worship Service in the Chinese language. The service will be at 10:45 a.m. in the 2nd floor Youth Area. God continues to provide co-workers, leadership and support for this new work. Please make a point of praying each day for RoL (River of Life Church), as the worship team assembles, prepares and leads. You will see signs in the church hallways and new folks attending on Sunday mornings. Please help us be good hosts by welcoming folks who will be attending RoL. Pray too for Pastor Thomas and the RoL leadership team as they minister in Jesus’ name.

In 2018 Southern Baptists stepped up their support of North American missions while helping thousands of disaster survivors who endured devastating hurricanes, fires and floods as well as a church in Texas after a tragedy that shocked the world. Here is a look at some of the highlights from 2018 as the North American Mission Board (NAMB) had the privilege of partnering with Southern Baptist churches in these and numerous other ways. For the second straight year, Southern Baptists set a record for the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering by breaking the $60 million mark for the first time. NAMB president Kevin Ezell shared the final tally of $61.1 million in October and thanked Southern Baptists for their faithful and sacrificial giving. SBDR: Two major hurricanes strike the Southeast, fires in the West Southern Baptist Disaster Relief (SBDR) experienced another busy hurricane season as Florence and Michael battered the Carolinas, Florida, Georgia and Alabama. Volunteers with SBDR also responded to one of the worst wildfires ever in California. In total, SBDR provided more than 2.2 million meals, assisted more than 6,900 homeowners and witnessed at least 549 professions of faith in response to disasters.
