to our credit, 200,000 successful heart patients, and 81 branches across the globe. If we try to recall the events and changes in the working of Saaol we
probably need a complete book to be written on it. But we are trying to summarize all in one page. We began with just three days camp and medical management of heart patients in 1995 – based on Dr. Chhajer's research at the AIIMS. Initially we were only in Delhi. In February, 1996 we held our first camp outside Delhi-in Mumbai. Then we started Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad and Bangalore in the next two years. We organized “ The Second International Conference on Lifestyle and Health' in the year 1999 at the India Habitat Center which was inaugurated by the
Union Health Minister of India. Dr. Chhajer kept on authoring so many books
during the past 24 years, some of them became best sellers. In 2005 the Camps started being sponsored by Emami group –
b r ing ing the cost by 80%. Saaol started EECP/ECP and Bio Chemical A n g i o p l a s t y (BCA) in 2006 and in 2006 s u b s t i t u t e d H e a r t t a l k m o n t h l y magazine by Saaol Times. In 2008 two more b r a n c h e s started in Delhi and then across t h e c o u n t r y. S a a o l a l s o
started bringing out low cost allopathic medicines in the year 2013. The three days camps were gradually replaced by 2 day and then one day camp. Saaol opened Dhaka cen te r in 2009 , and Kathmandu in 2011. Today Saaol has 81 centers. Five more centers are going to start in next two months and these are Chennai – Tambram, Yamuna Nagar in Haryana, Muzaffarpur and Kishangunj in Bihar and Navi Mumbai in Maharastra. Our next one day camps in Delhi will be on 29th September & 20th October.
Saaol Started in the month of September exactly 24 years back, when Dr. Bimal Chhajer decided to resign from his permanent job of Assistant professor at the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi. So, from the next
thmonth our 25 or Silver Jubilee year
will start. It has been a long journey of Saaol and team of doctors headed by Dr. Chhajer – completely against the conventional medical cardiologists and surgeons. Today we have 70 books

Today, on the starting of our 25 th yea r o f S a a o l I a m
feeling so happy and satisfied. The small clinic that I started in 1 9 9 5 h a s g r o w n i n t o a movement - a movement which has gone to crores of households and helping them to change their l i f e s t y l e . S o m u c h o f appreciations and blessing that I get every day from my patients, their relatives - has made me forget all the difficulties that I faced over the years to establish this system.I was going against the whole system – the whole lot of heart Hospitals – their heart surgeons, interventional Cardiologists - who believed Bypass Surgery and Angioplasties were the real solution to millions of heart patients. I was also going against the conventional Cardiologists and Physicians who wanted to manage heart patients with their armory of medicines only. I was singled out as I was telling that lifestyle, diet, exercise were much more important to solve
the menace of heart epidemic. I was stamped as a non scientific rebel as I was against cutting of the body. But we persisted. As thousands of my patients improved over the months and years – the word of the mouth spread. Our patients stood by us and showed that they can do well with Saaol treatment for tens of years. Our books became popular, the videos in the You tube became hit. Our supporters were now seen arguing with the heart doctors and often fighting with them – if they speak against us. Our message could reach a critical mass with Emami group and many of our patients he lp ing us to spread the awareness. Today, I feel proud when in the airport, public places, in the parties, conferences people recognize me and appreciate about the way to changed the concept of heart treatment. Saaol has become a brand, a revolution. Thanks to our patients.

I am Dinesh Agarwal, a resident of Aligarh. I am 57 years of age. I am a living example of what Saaol can do for heart patients. In March 2017 I had developed heart blockages and was advised Bypass Surgey. This I got it done in the famous Medanta Hospital. But within three four months the angina started coming back. So, I went back to the same hospitals. They advised me another Angiography. This showed that blockages were back. My second or Repeat Bypass Surgery (Re Do Bypass) was again done in the same hospital after five months of the first Bypass (August, 2017). Just after seven months angina r e t u r n e d b a c k a n d a n o t h e r Angiography showed that the blockages have come back again. My Ejection Fraction was down to 30%. I had by that time spend about 15 lacs of Rupees and had again Chest pain and Left Arm pain on exertion. My blocks were 100%, 100%, 80%. Medanta said they can not do anything now.
This is when I came to Saaol Heart center and consulted Dr. Bimal Chhajer at the Chattarpur head office. I had High BP, Diabetes, strong family history of heart disease and was Ex smoker. The doctor prescribed me medicines and lifestyle. I attended an one day camps also. I also underwent EECP treatment and BCA –drips in the month of August, 2018. I started improving immediately. Today, after one year – I have no angina and am walking one hour per day without any problem. I repeated my Angiography (CT Angiography )
thon 12 August, 2019 to see my condition. My 100% blockage in LAD has become 50-70%, RCA 100% has become 90% and LCx block of 80% has become 50-70%. Two of my five or six grafts are still working. I am a satisfied patient of Saaol and recommend people not to go for Bypass Surgeries or Angioplasties. Saaol is the best treatment and needs no cutting of the body. Thank you Saaol.

In the last issue of Saaol Times we discussed about the medical evidences which prove that not only most of the heart attacks can b e p r e v e n t e d b u t a l s o t h e blockages can be reversed. We talked about Dr. Salim Yusuf's Interheart Study, conducted on over 30,000 people in 52 countries, which conclusively showed that if we can control 8 factors – more than 90% heart attacks can be prevented. Then we talked about Dr. Dean Ornish's Lifestyle Heart Trial – which proved that Heart Blockages can be reversed by Lifestyle and diet change. We mentioned our own research study on 5000 patients tracked for minimum 5 years following Saaol Heart Program could prevent heart attack by 98% surety. Saaol Heart Program's requirements are much more stringent than Salim Yusuf or Dean Ornish. In the present issue we would inform you about “what one should do” so that the heart attacks do not take place. You must be aware of our own invention called “Saaol Safety Circle” – which depicts the risk factors of heart attack and what one can do to achieve prevention (yellow Circle) and reversal (Green Circle). The outer circle shows where most of the heart patients go wrong and create heart disease and ultimately
get heart attacks (Red Circle). This was having 17 factors to control. So, it looked little complicated and was difficult to remember. So, we tried to make it more simple. Thus we made a simpler version of the safety circle and divided all the factors into three categories – medical, Diet, habits/behavior. The medical g r o u p h a s 6 p a r a m e t e r s (Cholesterol, Triglycerides, HDL Ratio, BP, Sugar and weight); Diet group has 4 parameters (Zero oil c o o k i n g , Ve g e t a r i a n i s m , Milk/dairy and more intake of Fruits/vegetables); and lastly the Habits/behavior group has 4 parameters (Stress, Tobacco, walk and Yoga). This became more acceptable and easy to follow. This new Saaol Safety Circle was developed in 2019 only. We also constructed a Heart Attack Protection Score (HAPS) – which is very easy to calculate and give us an accurate idea about how well we are protected from future heart attacks. This also will tell us where all we are going wrong and what can be done to increase the level of our protection. If one can reach a full score of 42 – he or she is not only fully protected but also in the process of Reversal. This score was developed after our research on 5000 patients with a follow up of minimum 5 years.
We are giving our readers the way of calculation of this HAPS score. The Lipid profile report is valid for three months if the medicines to
lower lipids are not altered and the Blood sugar levels are also valid for 3 months. One can calculate one's score on daily basis.
