SE Junior A Hurling Championship Semi Final Valley Rovers Junior hurling team played Kinsale in the South East semi final last Friday in Ballinspittle. The Rovers were much improved from the last meeting and got off to a great start in the first half, with good forward play from Billy Crowley & Darragh Looney. The Rovers went in 6 points up at the break 0-11 to 0-05. In the second half Valley Rovers got off to a great start with 2 goals in the space of a minute from Fergal Lyons & Pa Hurley. Kinsale then came back strongly but never could get closer than 6 points to Valleys. The Rovers finished stronger to finish it in the end on a score of Valley Rovers 2-17 to Kinsale 1-13. Well done to the all Panel on making the South East final for the third year in a row, where they now await the winners of Courceys & Shamrocks. Team:
Eoin Burke, Stephen Lordan, Gary Deane, Don Lynch,
Ian Crowley, Michael O’Brien, Bill Hawkes, Shane O’Leary, Aaron Lyons,

Subs: Joe Crowley for Adam Settini & Mark O’Leary for Shane O’Leary.
U14 Hurling Our U14’s hurlers travelled to Glanmire to take on the
home team Sarsfields in the championship on
Wednesday evening. This was the U14 panel’s first
taste of championship and a difficult assignment
travelling away to a club with a strong hurling pedigree.
On a perfect sod for hurling Valleys played into a strong
breeze in the opening half and were visibly nervous
making uncharacteristic errors and missing a number of
scoring opportunities. Sars were quicker to settle
registering the first few points before Valleys opening
score. A goal for Sars mid-way through the half
allowed them to lead on a half time score of Sars 1-5
Valleys 0-6.
Some words of encouragement at half time and with
the lads knowing they needed to up their performance
they came out much stronger in the second half and
began to take control all over the pitch with our backs
holding Sars to a single score, our midfield dominating
and our forwards causing a lot of problems for the Sars
defence. Some excellently worked points throughout
the half and two goals at decisive times allowed the
Valley to finish deserving winners on a final score of:
Sarsfields 1-6 Valley Rovers 2-14.
Next up is a semi final meeting with Blackrock in mid
September.
Team:
Aaron White,
James O’Sullivan, Matthew Woods, Conor Hoban,

Hurley, Liam Egan, Patrick Horgan.

U13 Football Friday evening last saw the U-13's back into league
action after the summer break. First up was a tough
away fixture for the C3’s Footballers V Inniscarra.
Inniscarra started strong in the first half and kept this
going to take a decent lead into half time. Valleys came
out in the second half raised their game and took some
great scores , a tight second half see the game finish
level at full time .
Final Score: Valley Rovers 1-7 Inniscarra 2-4
U8 Hurling Last Saturday, the under 8 boys played hurling in
Clonakilty. The lads gave a fantastic display of hurling,
with each of the lads giving of their best. Keep up the
practice at home lads!
Massive congrats to the Valley Rovers players, Ben
Humphries, Ciaràn McCarthy and Jacob O’Driscoll who
were selected to play in the Cork U15 ‘Adam Mangan’
Football Tournament last weekend . Unfortunately Ben
did not travel due to an injury but Ciaràn and Jacob
celebrated with their winning Cork West/Mid Team
after winning the Cup final.
The under 15 Cork West/Mid team qualified a couple
of weeks ago in Kildare beating Westmeath, Kildare
and Down for a place in the Adam Mangan
Tournament cup competition. Last Saturday they
travelled to O’Connor Park, Tullamore where they
played and overcame Mayo (quarter-final), Offaly
(semi-final) and Kerry in the Cup final winning 3-9 to 1-
8. Well done lads on a successful year winning both the
Humphrey Kelleher Cup (Munster Tournament) and
the Adam Mangan Cup (National Competition).

Senior Camogie Championship Valley Rovers played the second round of the Cork
senior camogie championship last Wednesday night &
had a tough encounter with near neighbours
Ballygarvan. It was Ballygarvan who started the liveliest
& had 0-03 points on the board before Valleys had their
opening score through Katie Lynch. The Rovers were
working hard to keep Ballygarvan at bay at this stage &
were finding possession hard to attain & keep with the
opposition crowding out the play & hunting in numbers.
Gillian Harrington pulled off a great save, while Liz
bugler slotted over from play & Susan O’Leary added a
pointed Free to make the halftime score Ballygarvan 0-
09 to Valleys Rovers 0-03.
The Rovers make a few positional switches at halftime
to try push forward & stop the oppositions momentum
but unfortunately Ballygarvan were up for the challenge
& pushed on to wear down the Rovers defence &
continue to convert scores at ease. Two quick goals for
Ballygarvan sealed the deal & left Ballygarvan to run out
winners on a final scoreline of Valley Rovers 0-03 V
Ballygarvan 2-21.
A disappointing evening & end to the championship for
the girls as the scoreline didn’t reflect their ability but an
eye opener to the standard of play in the senior grade,
which we are sure they will strive to get to next year
again.
Team:
Gillian Harrington,
