Welcome! As September begins to turn the leaves on the trees, and children head back to school, we are thrilled to welcome back our returning dancers to Danscott Studio, and extend a warm greeting to the new dancers, families and teachers joining the studio for the first time. We are the Danscott Parents' Association (DPA) and we are looking forward to working with you through an exciting 2016/17 season as Danscott Studio celebrates it's 35th Anniversary. The DPA is comprised of the parents of all Danscott students, managed by a Volunteer Executive Committee, with the goal of supporting our dancers with fundraising, extracurricular activities, and timely and valuable information. This year's executive committee is Shannon Proceviat, Maria Clowater, Tamara Mago, Jennifer Robinson, Shirley Saputra, Danielle Tilley and Becky Verardi. An exciting year ahead....for dancers and their families In this issue of the quarterly newsletter you will find the most current information related to upcoming Jazz and Tap exams, costume measurement dates, and preliminary details on this year's competition trip. Volunteers As we start the year, we're sending a big thank you to our volunteers from the 2015/2016 season, and remind you that your volunteer time, energy and effort supports our studio in critical ways, helping in the areas of fund raising, communication, and operations. Please consider signing up as a volunteer for the coming year. SPOTLIGHT: Key Communicators are volunteer parents who act as liaisons to email information to other families in the same class. These roles require you to pass along information only, and do not require you to respond to inquiries directed to the teachers. Studio Safety Dancer safety is our #1 priority. Please remind your dancers to: Travel in groups between studios Be aware walking in the parking lot Stay in well lit areas Dress responsibly for the weather Allergy Warning For the safety of our dancers, Danscott Studio is a 100% peanut/nut free environment. Parents of dancers with severe allergies are asked to email your child's name, age, allergy and medications to [email protected] by Nov 1. This information will be shared with all Danscott teachers. Please send inhalers, epi-pens and medications with your dancer to each class and have them accessible at all times.

Costume News One of the most exciting things about dance, for dancers of all ages, is the beautiful, creative and innovative costumes that make the competition and recital routines come to life on stage. Costume measurement day for the 2016/17 season is quickly approaching and it is critical that your child get measured at one of the sessions in order to streamline the costume ordering process. Payments for costumes are due on or before October 18, 2016.

If you are unavailable during the main measurement day, please note the alternate date of Thursday, October 13, 2016 from 5:00pm - 7:30pm.

Please check the Danscott costume brochure and pricing details for further details and information. We are seeking VOLUNTEERS to assist with measuring and recording measurements for both the main and alternate dates. Please email [email protected] to sign up!!

ADAPT TAP & JAZZ EXAMS

This fall, eligible students will be busily preparing for the upcoming ADAPT exams in both Jazz and Tap at the beginning of December.

Volunteer opportunities will be opening soon to assist with the studio's readiness for the examinations.

Please watch for details from your Danscott teachers for dates and eligibility.

2017 is a Travel Year!!

In 2017 Danscott Studio will embark on an exciting travel opportunity for our competitive dancers to visit another city and compete in a local dance competition.

A great way to celebrate our 35th anniversary!

Details are not yet available on this year's exciting destination, but we look forward to sharing the specifics as they come available. Please watch for your chance to support this great opportunity through fundraising and volunteer support.
