Building & construction

We get it. No one likes to be woken up early by the sound of a drill. Construction noise is raised as one of the more common

concerns when living in a new development.

– 3 –

The Environmental Protection (Noise) Regulations 1997 allows for construction noise between 7am and 7pm on any day, except Sundays and public holidays. Builders are allowed to be on-site outside these times; however, noisy activities may only occur between 7am to 7pm Monday to Saturday. The equipment used must be the quietest reasonably available.

Other activities such as workers arriving on site, unloading tools or moving materials may be done prior to 7am, providing they do not emit noise that exceeds the permitted levels.

Here are some pointers on what your options are:

Speak to the builders concerned,to make them aware of their impacton you.

Contact the building company that’sresponsible for the construction.

Be patient. Remember, constructionwork is only temporary, so thedisturbance will eventually come toan end.

Should the annoyance continue, you may lodge a written complaintwith the City of Rockingham’s HealthServices department.

Waste managementTogether, we can help keep our neighbourhood clean

and make Millars Landing the ideal place to live.

– 4 –

Tradie TrashConstruction sites can be messy places. If you see rubbish that has blown onto the road, verges or bush, please think about picking it up. We know that you may not have been responsible, but you can be part of the solution.

If the trash is getting excessive, please contact the relevant builder or the Cedar Woods Development Manager on 9480 1500.

Illegal DumpingIf you see rubbish dumped at the side of the road (outside of the Millars Landing development boundaries), please contact the City of Rockingham’s Customer Support on 9528 0333.

If the rubbish is within the boundaries of the Millars Landing estate, please call the Development Manager on 9480 1500.

If the rubbish is within the boundaries of the Millars Landing estate, please firstly contact Litter Busters on 9528 0333 or the Development Manager on 9480 1500.

Three simple steps to prevent and protect you and your family:

Cover UpWear light-coloured loose clothingthat covers as much of your skinas possible.

Repel & DeterInsect repellent containing DEET canbe applied when outside - coils andcandles are good too.

Reduce & EliminateInstalling mosquito-proof mesh

screens on doors and windows

can help and be mindful of

water holding containers that

mosquitoes like to live in.

Mosquito managementMosquitoes can be a nuisance during warm breeding seasons. Cedar Woods, with the support of the City of Rockingham have

Party NoiseIf your neighbours are keeping you up with regular parties, try talking to them first and letting them know how it is affecting you. If the situation doesn’t improve, you can lodge a noise complaint with the Police and/or the City of Rockingham.

If you’re hosting a party, please consider:

Advising your neighbours, in advance, of thedate, time the music will be turned down, and your phone number.

Inviting your neighbours. It’s a nice gesture.

Barking DogsSome dogs like to give their loudest bark when they are lonely or excited. If your neighbour’s dog is making excessive noise, try talking to them first to make them aware of the issue and brainstorm possible solutions (puppy play date, anyone?). If the situation is not resolved, please contact the City of Rockingham’s Customer Services on 9528 0333, as this matter is covered under the Dog Act, 1976.

How to be a great neighbour

Handy tips to get along.

Keep noise down.

Keep the noise down at night and early in the morning.

Everyone loves a good snooze.

Get connected with us.

Come along to Millars Landing events and get-togethers.

Park your car like a champ.

Be considerate of where your guests park.

Say “hello” in the street.

Smile, (we’re pretty sure you’ll get a smile in return) and join the Millars Mates Facebook Group.

Welcome new neighbours.

When someone moves into your street, pop in and introduce

yourself. A friendly welcome makes all the difference.

Lend a helping hand.

Share school drop-offs or offer to keep an eye on the house when

your neighbours go away.

Create your own traditions.

Start a tradition by hosting your own get-together. What about a street chalk art party, or sunset

drinks and nibbles?

Your pets can be good neighbours too!

Organise pet play dates for lonely (and prone to barking) dogs with those who are home during the day. Our native wildlife will

thank you for keeping cats within your property boundary.

Embrace your green thumb.

Embrace the green thumb to keep your verge and garden

looking top-notch.

When living at Millars Landing, you will share a proud connection to the rich heritage of Baldivis.Millars Landing sits just south of the old

Rockingham- Jarrahdale train line, which was

constructed in 1871 and owned by Millars

Timber and Trading Co. from 1912 to 1973.

The line connected the Jarrahdale timber mills,

also owned by Millars, with the Rockingham

port, where the timber was shipped all over the

world, including London, Glasgow and Paris

where it was used as street paving blocks.

The Tramway Reserve that runs along the entire

estate, was created in the early 1920’s as the

backbone of a temporary rail network built to

enable the development of the Peel Estate by

transporting harvested local timbers for use in

furniture, building and railway construction out

of the region; and the transport of construction

and farming materials into the region.

The Tramway Reserve stretches from Jandakot

in the north (City of Cockburn) and to Karnup

in the south (City of Rockingham), providing

access to the Group Settlements Scheme Land.

Although the Tramway Reserve was created,

the rail line itself was never constructed

in Baldivis.†

Millars Landing is made from this moment in time.
