The Madera County Workforce Assistance Center refers only the bestqualified job seekers to local employers for employment. We are “theeyes of the employer” and expect nothing but the best from the jobseekers who represent this Center. How you present yourselves willdetermine your success in securing the job you desire. Expectations forour Job Seekers are:

DependabilityEmployers hire people who show the most promise of being at work ontime every day and maintain good attendance. It is important to do thesame with your scheduled appointments here at the Center. Keep yourappointments, be prepared and be on time!

AppearanceGood personal appearance and hygiene are extremely important whenyou looking for a job. Dress for success!

• ADA Accessible and Assistive Equipment and Technology, Videoconferencing and TTY phones

• No food or drinks;

• No children unattended in Lobby;

• No loitering inside or outside of building;

• Cell phones are not to be used inside Resource Room or Lobby;

• Computers and customer internet services are for job search activity only;

• Time limit of one hour will be enforced in the Resource Room if the demand for computers is excessive;

• Customers are to conduct themselves in a professional manner;

• Madera County Workforce Assistance Center is not responsible for lostor stolen items. Please leave your personal items at home;

• No public access to Restrooms;

• No outside CDs or Flash Drives will be allowed on computers;

• Due to limited space, no strollers or visitors will be allowed in theResource Room;

• No public parking in back of building; all customers must park on street;

• Maximum of 5 copies are allowed and must be job related;• Computers are property of Madera County Workforce Investment

Corporation. All computers are monitored by Staff toinsure that customers are job searching and are not on inappropriatewebsites. Staff has access to view, send warning messages and blank out screens if necessary.

• Please dress appropriately during all job search activities;

• A phone is available for job search activity only. All calls must be logged by a Staff person. Please keep calls as brief as possible;

• Courtesy phones are available for customers who want to file or have questions regarding Unemployment Insurance Benefits. If you would like to speak to an EDD Representative, please ask Resource Room staff person for EDD Staff schedule.

The Madera County Workforce Investment Corporation operatesprograms for both adults and youth who need help findingemployment. We provide a variety of services for people living inMadera County who are interested in finding work, going to schooland/or training or improving their skills to move up in theirworkplace.

The Madera County Workforce Investment Corporation alsoprovides services to local employers. We recruit and takeapplications for local companies, screen the applicants, andschedule interviews at our office or at the company site. We will alsomake referrals to employers for direct placement.

Eligibility Determination:• Madera County Resident• U.S. Work Authorization• Selective Service Registrant (Males born on or after 1/1/60)• Must have a High School Diploma or GED Certificate (for

training activities)

The Career Development Seminar (CDS) is a one and half day Workshop toprepare customers with their job search. The workshop will help you develop:

Due to funding, individuals will be selected for training according to the following priority of services:

1. Customers who complete and receive their GED Certificateor High School Diploma and want additional training.

2. Customers who want short term certificate training. (Will be considered on a case-by-case basis).

We are no longer able to assist customers with the registration feesand books for GED Prep classes. If you are interested in getting yourGED Certificate, we may be able to assist you with the cost of theGED Test. You must bring your assessment results to show that youare ready to take the exam.

Madera County Workforce Investment Corporation is 1 of 5recipients in the state of California to receive the DEI grant for thenext 3 years.

The goal of the DEI is to improve the education, training, andemployment opportunities and outcomes for adults with disabilities.

The TtW program is a component of the DEI.

TtW allows SSI or SSDI beneficiaries to receive a ticketto work, which may be assigned to an EmploymentNetwork (EN) provider for assistance in achieving yourdesired employment goal.

Madera County Workforce Assistance Center is an approved EN provider.
