WRAPPING UP THE 2020-2021 SCHOOL YEAR• Attendance: The 9th grade averaged 75-80 students attending in

person per day

• Covid Impact:

– Academics: The 9th grade had the highest amount of failures per marking

period

• It is crucial for 9th grade students to return full time in person next year

– Final Exams: count for 10% of the students grade, which is important for

many

– Summer Assignments: are mandatory. Assignments will be posted on the

Saunders website all summer long, and due the first week back in September

SUMMER ASSIGNMENTS• Summer assignments will be posted on the Saunders web page

• Summer assignments will count as the students first grade of the

marking period

• The summer assignments are not taxing nor are they long and

meaningless

• AP assignments are rigorous…….but that’s what a college courses is!!!!

• Summer assignments are mandatory

• Every English class has required reading material

SUMMER SCHOOL• Dates: July 1 - August 11, 2021

• Location: Yonkers Middle High School (150 Rockland Ave, Yonkers, NY 10705)

• Type of Instruction: In Person Instruction Only - No Remote Learning Option

• Attendance Policy and Code of Conduct Dress Code: will be strictly enforced

• 9th Grade Courses Available - English 9, Global 9, Algebra, Geometry, Earth Science and

Living Environment. Students may not take more than two courses

• Class Schedule: Periods 1-4 ( 8 am -1:25 pm) Students will be assigned class periods

• Resources and ELL students: will have an extra period added to their day for support

services

b. magnet classes are multiple periods
