Dear Parish Family,

Be watchful! Be Alert! These words of Jesus from the Gospel of Mark set the tone for our celebration of Advent. We can be so caught up in the concerns and worries of the day, as well as in all the busyness of the pre Christmas rush and fuss that we miss the message that is the cause for our celebration: JESUS IS COMING! We need to be prepared and we need to prepare. Let's start Advent well and together. Join us for our Advent Mission: DARE TO BE HOLY! given by Catholic Lay Evangelist Bill Wegner. Join Bill at Mass in the morning or come to the main service in the evenings at 7:00 p.m. What a great gift to give to your self and those you love! Join us! You won't regret it! I am so grateful to the heavenly Father and to Bishop DiMarzio for the assignment of Father Michael McHugh, a priest of our diocese, as parochial vicar in our parish. Father is already moved in and ready to get to work! Monsignor and I are thrilled to welcome him to our rectory family and along with our pastoral staff I know you will give him a warm welcome to St. Brendan. Thank you, Bishop! Welcome, Father Mike! We have a lot planned for the weeks of Advent to help us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus... Let's spend these weeks preparing a manger in our hearts for HIM... a good confession, time in the chapel at Eucharistic Adoration, daily Mass, the corporal and spiritual works of Mercy... all these will help us focus and prepare! Thanks so much to the staff and volunteers for their hard work already in preparing the Church and property for Advent and Christmas! There's more to come. Have a Blessed Week ~ See you at the Mission ~ Don't forget the Giving Trees...

COME, LORD JESUS! MARANATHA! Peace and blessings, Father Peter As for me and my house, we will serve the

Lord! Joshua 24.15

This weekend, December 2nd & 3rd, Advent Giving Trees will be

decorated with red and yellow stars, each one representing a gift

that you can purchase for someone special. Our response to the request for Christmas presents is eagerly being anticipated by both Rachel’s Joy Maternity Home and Hour Children. We ask you to purchase the item, affix the star to

the gift, and return it UNWRAPPED to Church placing it at the base of the Giving trees as soon

as possible. When you buy a gift for someone you do not know or may never meet, you demon-

strate the most unselfish generosity. The recipient of your gift will not be able to thank

you. The gratification of such an act is to remain anonymous. May God, who sees what is

hidden, bless you.

ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT

We are always in need of more volunteers to spend time with Jesus during Eucharistic Adoration each week. We invite all adorers to sign the adoration book inside the Chapel entrance. If every-

one would come for even one half hour of adoration each week we would be able to fill our schedule. We will have adoration Monday through Saturday from 9-4 pm and Fridays till 7 pm. We believe that Eucharistic Adoration will transform the parish. Come and spend quality time with Jesus. Experience his healing presence. Remember, Jesus is waiting. Miracles happen.

Biblical Reasons for wanting to spend one hour each week with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament:

For PEACE in our country! “When My people humble themselves and seek My Presence, I will receive their land.”

Reasons from the Teachings of the Church for wanting to spend one hour each week with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament:

Just as you can’t be exposed to the sun without receiving its rays, neither can you come to Jesus exposed in the Blessed Sacrament without receiving the divine rays of His grace, His love, His peace. “Christ is truly the Emmanuel, that is ‘God with us’ day and night, He is in our midst. He dwell with us full of grace.”

AED/CPR INFORMATION SESSIONS

14 of our parishioners have taken advantage of the opportunity to learn CPR/AED skills in sessions taught by our very own, Dr. Ramiro Cadag.

These informal 3 hour sessions of lecture, video presentations, and hands-on practice with mannequins provide a basic understanding of how cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) can save the life of someone who is having a cardiac event. If you are interested in learning CPR/AED skills, please sign up at the rectory, and you will be contacted when the next session has been scheduled.

We strongly urge all parishioners to consider making use of this opportunity to learn these life-saving skills.

LECTURAS DE LA SEMANA Lunes: Is 2:1-5; Sal 122 (121):1-9; Mt 8:5-11 Martes: Is 11:1-10; Sal 72 (71):1-2, 7-8, 12-13, 17; Lc 10:21-24 Miércoles: Is 25:6-10a; Sal 23 (22):1-6; Mt 15:29-37 Jueves: Is 26:1-6; Sal 118 (117):1, 8-9, 19-21, 25-27a; Mt 7:21, 24-27 Viernes: Gn 3:9-15, 20; Sal 98 (97):1-4; Ef 1:3-6, 11-12; Lc 1:26-38 Sábado: Is 30:19-21, 23-26; Sal 147 (146):1-6; Mt 9:35 — 10:1, 5a, 6-8 Domingo: Is 40:1-5, 9-11; Sal 85 (84):9-14; 2 Pe 3:8-14; Mc 1:1-8
