Welcome to Naviance Family Connection
Class of 2016!!
Today you will learn about:
•Signing up for college visits •Matching your Common App and Naviance Family Connection Accounts •Adding colleges to your Naviance Family Connection list •Requesting transcripts through Naviance Family Connection •Filling out surveys •Requesting teacher recommendations
SIGNING UP FOR COLLEGE VISITS
Admission representatives visit SPHS throughout first semester. Learn more about
schools and meet the people who will be looking at your application.
HOW DO I MATCH MY COMMON APP ACCOUNT TO MY
NAVIANCE/FAMILY CONNECTION ACCOUNT?
Click on Manage my account
Click on manage my profile.
Do you have a email address? If so, write it down. You will need it for the next step. If not, click on the pencil icon.
Enter an email address that you will use for all college information, and confirm it. Then click the Update button.
Click on the colleges tab
Click on colleges I’m applying to
Click on Common App Online-we are going to ‘match’ the two accounts.
Click on APPLY NOW
Click CREATE AN ACCOUNT
Click on College Search
Check the box next to University of Maryland, Baltimore County
Click Add
Check this box
Sign and date
Type in email address then click Match.
Match is complete.
The matching process is so teachers and counselors can send all your documents to your colleges. You still need to add colleges to both your Common App account AND
your Naviance/Family Connection list.
HOW DO I ADD COLLEGES TO MY NAVIANCE/FAMILY CONNECTION LIST?
Click Add To This List
You must bring in your Release of Records Form.
Click Add Colleges.
Let’s talk about these icons and what they mean.
HOW DO I REQUEST TRANSCRIPTS?
Click Request Transcripts
Be sure to click Request Transcripts!!
You will get a green confirmation box stating that your transcript requests have been submitted.
WHAT IS A TEACHER AND COUNSELOR SURVEY?
IN ABOUT ME TAB, Under “Surveys to take,” click brag sheet questions
There are a total of 33 questions on this form. The more info you give, the better recommendation we can write! Counselors AND recommending teachers will be able to see these answers
Click on the COLLEGES tab and “colleges I’m applying to” when complete
Click on add/cancel requests.
Click on arrow.
You must write a note! It is NOT optional!
Be careful about how many teachers you ask to write a recommendation for you-the Common App and many other schools only want a maximum of two. Since things are electronic now, if more than two teachers submit a rec letter for you electronically, only the first two will be accepted.
Click a teacher’s name off the drop-down menu.
Make sure you write a note!!!
Click Update Requests
You will get a green confirmation box stating that your requests have been updated.

to talk about colleges, careers, and of course, Naviance!
