Where is China?• China is

surrounded by countries such as Russia, Mongolia, North Korea, India among others.

• China can be found here

• The capital of China is Beijing

• China is next to the East China Sea

• Here is the southern border of China by Vietnam

• Himalayas – the highest mountain range in the world.

• Coastal range where most of the population lives

• Taiwan – An island that does not want China to control it.

• High Plateau where most of the rivers start. Known as the “roof of the world” because it’s so high in elevation.

Facts about China• China, as a country has 4 times as many people as the United States at 1.3

billion people.• China has an average of 134 people per square kilometer. (US = 80.9)• 24% of the world speaks Chinese. There are 200 different Chinese

languages.• Paper was invented in China• Fingerprinting was used in China 1300 years ago (700 A.D.)• The Great Wall of China was built to keep out the Huns and the Mongols.

The Huns found places where they could cross the wall with ladders but since they couldn’t get their horses over they gave up.

Great Wall of China

• Built by the 1st Emperor Qin in 200 B.C.• The wall is 4,000 miles long.• Guarded by over one million men when

it was built and over 2 million people died while building the wall.

• The wall is a maximum of 30 feet wide.• Much of the wall is today in disrepair

with stones taken from it and graffiti.

• 8,099 soldiers have been unearthed so far.

• Warriors (such a privates and generals), horses, and acrobats have been found.

• Most figures have been from 6’ to 6’5”.• Buried with the Emperor Qin hence

known as Qin’s Army. (in 200 B.C.)• Discovered by farmers drilling for

water in 1974.

What’s interesting about China?• China is the fastest growing country in the world. In the cities you

are only allowed to have one child or you are fined. In the country they usually have more children.

• 4 % of the Chinese are Christians. 94% are Buddhist.• The government is communist and rules very strictly.• The average person makes $6800 per year.• At the current rate Chinese will begin running out of food to feed it’s

people in 2025.• Unemployment is 9% compared to the US 4.5 %• China’s need for oil will soon outpace the US as the #1 country

needing oil for cars and heating.

Natural Resources of China• China also has many large rivers, with its water resources

ranking first in the world. It is one of the countries in the world having the most species of wild animals, with some peculiar to China. Plant species are abundant in China because of its complex natural conditions. China has almost all kinds of vegetation found in the Northern Hemisphere. It has abundant mineral resources, with total reserves ranking third in the world. All nonferrous metallic minerals that have been discovered in the world can be found in China, with deposit reserves ranking among the world's top.

• To rent a car and rent a room in a 4 star hotel with the airline tickets cost $1512.
