Program and Registration Information Early Day
The Early Day program is available from Monday through Friday from 7:15 am to 8:15 am. The Early Day program provides an opportunity for quiet activities prior to the start of the school day. Students should be served breakfast before they arrive although a small snack is generally available. The Early Day program is held in the Primary School Art and Music Rooms - enter at Door #6. Students who attend the Early Day program are billed for one hour at $5.15 per hour.
Stay & Play Stay and Play is available Monday
through Friday from 3:45 - 6:00. This program provides opportunities for free choice play, recreation, arts and crafts,
snacks, board games, and homework assistance.
The Primary School Art and Music Rooms are the main locations for the Stay and Play Program. We also use the PS Gym and Playground (weather permitting). Accommodations are made in adjacent classrooms for students who prefer a quiet spot to study, read, or play. The Primary School Science Exploratorium is used for homework assistance and board games. The fee for this program is $5.15 per hour, with a minimum of one hour.
Middle SchoolMiddle School Students are always
welcome to Stay and Play or Stay and Study. They may check in directly after school, or when the SRC closes at 4:30. Middle school students are often offered a separate, supervised study area, but are always
welcome to spend time with our Primary School Students, who love to play with the “big kids”.
Because we want to ensure a safe environment for all of our students, Middle School students who are in the school after the SRC closes must be in an organized program with a supervisor or they will be directed to check in at Stay and Play.

Registration Each student in Grades ES - 8 is automatically registered to attend Stay and Play on a drop-
in basis. Therefore, a registration form is not required for Stay and Play, but a pre-registration form is required for Early Release Days, Faculty Development Days and Spring Break so we may staff appropriately. In addition, a copy of each student’s EMERGENCY CARD is provided to Stay and Play by the Health Office.
Pick-UpStudents may be picked up at Door #6. Ten minute parking in the circle drive by door #5 is
permitted from 4:00-6:00. In the event that someone other than a parent or legal guardian is REGULARLY authorized to pick up your student(s), please advise Stay and Play by written authorization or email.
Change of plans during the school dayIf your plans change during the school day and you need to get a message to your student
to attend Stay and Play, please DO NOT CALL STAY and PLAY. Instead, call your student’s division office (either Primary School, Becky Coy 752-2573 or Middle School, Carol Schmidlkofer 752--2551). They will be sure to get the message to your student, your student’s teacher, AND the Stay and Play Staff. You may also email [email protected].
HomeworkAlthough we don’t have a formal tutoring program at Stay and Play we encourage (but do
not require) students get a “head start” on their homework while it is fresh in their minds. In addition, we realize that family obligations or extracurricular activities that are scheduled in the evening often make it difficult to squeeze in homework time. We provide limited assistance and a quiet place to work when staffing numbers permit, so students can choose to use their time at Stay and Play to their best advantage.
Students will frequently tell us that they prefer to do homework in the evening with their parents. Generally, we ask these students to complete the homework and then review and check the assignment with parents for accuracy. However, if you would prefer that your student NOT be encouraged to do homework during Stay and Play, please let us know.
Early Release/Faculty Development DaysExtended School Day programming is available on most Early Release and Faculty
Curriculum Days. Care will also be available during the first week of Spring Break, March 24 through March 28, provided we have enough students registered in advance for the program. Details and costs will be send home with separate registration forms for these opportunities.
School Closing - Inclement WeatherExtended School Day programs are closed on days when school is closed due to inclement
weather or any other emergency. However, if school should close mid-day for any reason, including weather related emergencies, our program will be staffed until all students are safely transported home or picked up by parents.
Running Late? Our extended school day programs close at 6:00. If you are running
late due to an emergency, please call 752-2599 and a ten minute grace period can be provided for emergency situations. Without notification prior to 6:00, a
$15.00 per ten minute late charge will be assessed to your account.
