Our K-2 students will be dancing from 4.00pm – 5.30pm and our Yr. 3-6 discoers will be on 5.45-7.15pm. Wednesday morning, outside the Canteen is the last time tickets can be purchased. As we have had no response regarding the Parent session on Literacy, we will not be offering it at this time but will reschedule next term. Stage 2 Excursion I would like to thank all the staff and parents for their assistance with the Stage 2 excursion to the Royal Easter Show and especially Mr Collins for his wonderful organisation. It was terrific to see our students in their “stand out” red uniforms on the television news on Thursday night and to hear such positive reports from all who attended. Well done Years 3 and 4. Easter Hat Parade You are invited to the K-2 Easter Hat Parade on Thursday 24 March commencing at 12.15pm and stay for a picnic lunch with your child when it concludes. Pupils in Years 3-6 are constructing Easter hats as well but this is a design challenge, linked to Science and not for a parent parade. They will be showing other students how they have met the science brief they have been given. SEA-FM visit Wednesday From 4.30am tomorrow morning, tech crews from the coast’s own SEA-FM will be arriving to set up the equipment needed for a “live broadcast” from our school from 6.00-9.00am. This is part of their “Back to School” feature and we were nominated by a member of our community. Come along and enjoy the fun with us. We will be receiving a cheque from Brian Hilton Motor Group to the value of $1 000 as a thank you for hosting the crew. School Plan 2015-2017 –End of 2015 Evaluation WWS’s second Strategic Direction for the 2015 -2017 School Plan is “Quality Teaching, Leading and Professional Learning”. Our first strands combined sought to engage staff with the teacher accreditation process and Professional Development Framework. As a result, all staff set and completed their individual Professional Development Plans, linked to the Australian Teaching Standards and supported this with evidence collected throughout the year. Staff willingly extended the process to share “best practice” across the school, welcoming colleagues to observe their teaching and observing others, providing additional professional feedback and acknowledgement of the strengths of the staff. During 2016, staff will set new individual, professional goals, linked to both the Teaching Standards and the school plan. Observations for and beyond the Framework will be facilitated to ensure we acknowledge the high level skills of the WWS staff and share best practice so that all students benefit. Next Week – School photos and Swimming Scheme We have a very busy week next week with Easter cutting this week and next week down to 4 day weeks and both School Photos and the Special Swimming Scheme kicking off next Tuesday 29 March. Please ensure your child comes to school in their summer uniform for the photos and all envelopes need to be returned on or by the day. Please note, we do not open photograph envelopes at any stage and are unable to provide change. All correspondence needs to be with the photo company, the details of which are on your envelope. Year 2 (and some Year 3) students involved in this year’s special swimming scheme will commence lessons on Tuesday 29 March. All relevant information has been sent home with your child. PLAN Data Reports Please go through your child's bag today to find an envelope addressed to you. It contains a PLAN report based on your child's demonstrated learning so far this year. Teachers plot each child onto the Literacy and Numeracy continuums according to the clusters of skills they achieved. As a result, the report shows you what your child can do and what the next steps are in their learning. It also suggests ways you can help your child progress to the next cluster of skills. In the earlier years of schooling, pupils move fairly rapidly through the clusters but the descriptors in Stage 3 are very broad and a child may not move beyond a given cluster within a year. In our Strategic Direction 1 of our 2015-2017 School Plan, we have identified the development of “Aspiring, Responsible Learners" as our goal. By providing these PLAN reports in Term 1 and 3 and our Semester reports at the end of Semester 1 (Term 2) and Semester 2 (Term 4), we are giving a clear picture of your child's learning. Mrs K. Whealey Principal

School Photos "Say Cheese" School photos will occur on Tuesday 29th March. This is also the first day of swimming scheme. To ensure your child looks their best for their photos as Year 2 classes will have their photo taken before going to the pool. Sibling/Family photos will also be taken before any students go swimming. If your child is attending swimming scheme and is also having a sibling photo please inform you class teacher. EASTER HAT PARADE After numerous requests from students we have extended the Easter Hat Parade to Yrs. 3 – 6. This year the Woy Woy South Easter Hat Parade will not be only for the Infants students, to challenge our skilled and clever primary students; there are conditions that must be met for each grade. Years 3 & 4 – Recyclable Hats – The hat must be made from recyclable materials. These can be already recycled or purchased new, proved the entire hat is able to into the Yellow or Green recycle bins at the end of the parade. Years 5 & 6 – Moving Hats – The hat needs to contain moving parts, through mechanical, gravitational or aerodynamic means! This may be as simple as having big floppy ears all the way through to getting an old baby toy that moves and incorporating it into the hat design. Please encourage your children to create an innovative and exciting hat for the parade. Positive Behaviour For Learning This week our PBL focus for K-6 will be “LEARN AND ALLOW OTHERS TO LEARN”. Students will be learning how to be considerate to others by:

• Listen (using the 5 L’s) • Being aware of others and their feelings • Helping others • Sharing • Caring for their peers

Congratulations to the 100 students who traded for Bee Award Vouchers yesterday. Ask your child what voucher they are planning to get this term. Have a safe and happy Easter weekend.

WWSPS part of the

Stage 2 Royal Agricultural Show Excursion 2016 On behalf of Stage 2 teachers and students, we would like to say a big thank you to our parent and carer volunteers for the excursion to Homebush last Thursday. The day was a resounding success and it will be a memory for all students who attended. The students were well behaved and enjoyed every aspect of the train ride to the show, all the animals viewed along the way and the train ride back home. Once again thanks for making our students happy with their educational experiences.
