Jackie King – Anti ICE campaign September 7 Community forum

o Action is heating up with the forum o Michael Hart has been a great help with the printing of the flyer as

well as distributing the flyer via his networks and contacting all the local schools. He has also confirmed that Shadow Police Minister will attend the forum

o Jacki has flyers and info packs available for members to give out and show to community – please get some and assist with the delivery of these to store fronts and community groups.

o Pres Catherine also mentioned that she had spoken to Acting principal of Miami State High School and was told of the high levels of exposure that the students have to ICE

o One of the best experiences she has ever had. o It was a hard but thoroughly enjoyable o She met a lot of people she would not normally meet – age differences

did not matter – everyone made you feel welcome and everyone has become friends after the experience.

o During the program they heard from guest speakers and learnt a lot about professional development - how to budget, setting goals in life and work – she has already achieved one of the goals set and purchased a car and got that second job she needed.

o RYLA has given her confidence, a new outlook on life to be positive, let go of things and focus on the good things in her life.

o She’s excited to be in contact with fellow attendees from RYLA as well as members rom Rotaract club
