Weekly Maths YEAR 3 ** WEEK 5
Summer 2
This term we are going to focus on Time and Money.
This week we will be focusing on telling the time and the use of calendars. Here are some helpful questions you may want to ask.

A: There are 24 hours in one day.
If you count the numbers on the clock, there are only 12 hours! That means that in one day, the hour hand will move all the way around the clock twice! Every single day, it's actually 9:00 twice!

D: There are 365 days in a year. There are 12 months in a year. There are 366 days in a leap year. There are 7 days in a week. Leap years happen every 4 years.

Please have a go at making your own moving clock face. You can use pipe
Cleaners or ideally a split pin to holds the hands in place. Card board from a
Cereal box is always great to use as the clock face.
Represent different times to the nearest 5 minutes on your clock.
Discuss whether the minute hand is past or to the hour in different times.

E: I do not agree with Annie. 12:15 is an earlier time than 4 because there are 24 hours divided into two within one day. 12:15 is the start of the afternoon and 4:00 pm is nearly 4 hours later.
