Principal Notes
The cold this week proves that winter is here. Please make sure students are coming with coats, hats,
and mittens. I strongly recommend snow pants as well. We go outside as long as both the temperature and the wind chill are above 0. Girls who wear skirts or jumpers should have pants on under them when
they go outside. They need to keep their legs covered.
The end of 2nd quarter is next week. If you have not logged in to PowerSchool, please do so. This is a
great resource to see the progress of your child(ren). If you have not set up your account, please contact the school office to get the directions and your code.
On Wednesday, December 23rd, we had a white SUV vandalized in the church lot during the kindergarten
program, we believe. If you saw anything, I would appreciate you calling me.
We are planning for Catholic Schools Week. I know that seems a long way away, but it will be here
before you know it. We have a lot planned that week. Please note our Open House will be Sunday, January 31, 2016, from 10:00 AM -1:00 PM. This is a great time to stop in and talk with next year’s
teacher. We will also have our Middle School Academic Fair projects in the gym for you to see. See you then!
Mrs. Susan Booth
Registration for 2016-2017 School Year
It is time to start planning for the 2016-2017 school year. It is very important to have accurate
information from families as we plan for staff and the number of classes for next year. Please complete the registration form that was sent home today for the 2016-2017 school year and return it to the school
office by Thursday, January 28, 2016.
Principal for the Day
Ms. Maura Mitchell won the Principal for the Day drawing from the Club’s Choice fundraiser. She will be
principal on Friday, January 15. She has chosen to give the students a few fun things on her day as
principal.
Friday, January 15th will be a Pajama Day. Students may wear their pajamas, bring a stuffed
animal, and wear slippers during the school day. Please make sure there are shoes to wear
outside.
Students will also have extra time with their Star Partners and have game time.
Be sure to say hello to Ms. Mitchell when she is principal!

Hot Lunch Update
St. Matthias Parish School has been sending out weekly reminders if the students account is either in a low balance (under $10.00) or negative balance situation. We are receiving feedback from parents that
they are not receiving emails from the NutriKids or My School Bucks systems.
If you are not receiving notifications about your child’s food service balance please contact NutriKids
parent support line at 1-855-832-5226 as they would need to ask some questions that only the parent could answer in order to fix any problems.
As a reminder, St. Matthias’s Lunch policy states that a family may not carry a deficit food account
balance. If your student’s account has a negative balance, the student will not be allowed to purchase ala carte items. If a family’s food account balance is continuously negative, the student will be unable to
participate in extra-curricular activities including athletics during the semester.
Please contact either Mr. Jonathan Richter or Mrs. Susan Booth if you have questions

Wisconsin Parental Choice Program
St. Matthias Parish School will be participating in the Wisconsin Parental Choice Program (WPCP) as well as the Milwaukee Parental Choice Program (MPCP) for the 2016-2017 school year. When we entered the
MPCP, we were able to help current families as well as offer opportunities for new families to our school family. By entering the WPCP, we will be able to do that for families who reside outside of the city of
Milwaukee.
The WPCP does have a few differences than the MPCP.
Income eligibility is 185% of poverty. See the chart below.
Students already enrolled at St. Matthias may only enter the program if they are in grades K4, K5
or 1st grade for the 2016-2017 school year. Students may enter at any grade level if they were previously enrolled in a public school or were
homeschooled.
The program allows only 1% of a public school district’s population to participate in the WPCP.
Enrollment for the 2016-2017 school year will begin February 1, 2015. Please watch the mailer for additional information.
2016-17 Income Limits for New Students
For the 2016-17 school year, the family income of a student applying to the Wisconsin Parental Choice Program (WPCP) must be at or below the amount listed in the table below. If a student is continuing in
the program or was on the Department of Public Instruction’s choice waiting list in the prior year, he or
she is no longer required to meet the income limits. Family income includes the income of the student’s parent(s) or legal guardian(s) that reside in the same household as the student applicant. If the student’s
parents/legal guardians are married their income is reduced by $7,000 when determining income eligibility for the program. Family size includes parents/legal guardians and their children by birth,
marriage or adoption that reside in the same household as the student applicant.

Athletic Golf Outing Raffles
In September the Athletic Association sponsored their Annual Golf Outing. There were many raffle items
available. If you won the Spring Concert Preferred Seating or the Lunch with the Principal, please contact Mrs. Booth to let her know.
Ski Club
We will be having Ski Club this Friday! Plan to meet us in Alpine Valley’s Lodge in the cafeteria area
at 4:30 p.m. From there, you will get your lift tickets from us and also your rental card to fill out if you need to rent your equipment.
Parents and siblings are welcome to join us to ski. They would pay the $16.00 student rate when we
have our scheduled club outings. Also, you may bring something to eat, so that you don’t have to buy
food for dinner. Often students bring sandwiches or other items in a lunch bag.
We are expecting weather in the low 30’s with some light snow, so the conditions should be perfect!
Yearbook Sale
The St. Matthias yearbook is currently on sale for $11.00. An order form was sent home last week with all children. If you need another please stop at the school office. Sales ends Friday, February 6th 2016.
Ham & Roll/Bake Sale to be Rescheduled
Due to serveral conflicts, we have decided to reschedule the Home & School Association ham & roll/bake
sale until after Easter. We will let you know as soon as we have our new dates so that we can plan for an
excellent event.
