Future Focussed Students

As we move into Term 4 we are working with the children to consolidate

and embed changes to their mindsets and strategies to help their

learning.

We are also taking the opportunity to challenge their thinking by

introducing Project Based Learning in the primary classroom.

PBL is a dynamic classroom approach in which students actively explore

real-world problems and challenges and acquire a deeper knowledge.

PBL allows students to discover how things work in the real world and

also to discover their own inner strengths.

Last Friday the students began developing their vision for indoor and

outdoor learning environments at JPS. As key stakeholders in our school

the children will collaborate and be involved on improvement teams

using David Langford’s Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) cycle.

They will present their Vision to parents and

teachers when they have completed the

process.

Later, they will also be designing and making a

toy for a small child to give as a Christmas gift

or a percussion instrument.

As always, staff at JPS seek to empower our

students to develop and use strategies that will engage, challenge and

support their learning and enable them to reach their potential

Responsible Pet Ownership

Students from K-2 were visited by Jess and Ned (the dog) from

Responsible Pet Ownership. The students learnt about the safe way to

interact with pets and how to approach unknown dogs.

Here’s Brumby Jack - and he’ll be back in 2016!

Day for Daniel Next Monday, October 26, as part of our Personal Development and Child Protection day, the

students are asked to wear a red shirt and donate a gold coin to support the Morecombe

Foundation.

Grandparents Day The Grandparents Day 2015 theme is ‘Moments that Matter’. The moments that we share together

are precious. Take the time to think about a special day you shared with your grandparent, or a cup

of tea you shared with an older neighbor. On Friday the students are planning a special event that will to

celebrate this Grandparents Day.

Sydney…Here We Come

It’s only two weeks away and excitement is mounting. Mrs McFadyen and Mrs Lenehan are busy finalising

organisation for our Sydney Excursion, although they are still a bit worried about the prospect of sharing a

dorm with 40 or so ‘convicts’, having to sleep in hammocks and not being able to have a shower on

Thursday morning!

A final update will be sent out soon, with reminders about what to take. Final payment is due this week.

Poetry in Motion We are so lucky to have so many “experts” in our Jugiong community. We are even more lucky that they

volunteer to come to our school to work with our students. Last week we had Helen Maskell-Knight

(public speaking expert) and Steph Hyles (artist) working with our students. We would like to thank them

for sharing their talents and helping the students to achieve at the highest standard.
