Anna’s Shopping Day

Thursday is Anna’s shopping day. She has a lot to get for the birthday BBQ on the weekend.

After breakfast she makes a list of what to buy.

Milk, butter, sugar and eggs for the cake

Apples, bananas, oranges and pears for the fruit salad

Meat for the BBQ Tomatoes, lettuce and cucumber for

the salad Potatoes and spring onions for the

potato salad And a nice crusty French stick for

the children – they love French sticks!

sThen Anna has a shower, gets dressed and heads off to the market. It’s a long way and she’s tired when she gets there.

She sits down and looks for her list. Oh no! It’s not there! She’s left it on the kitchen table!

“I’ll just have to try to remember”, she says to herself. “Hmm… let’s think…

I need meat for the BBQ.

We’ll have a salad, so I’ll need lettuce, tomato and cucumber.The children like bread. Yes, I want a crunchy French stick.For dessert I was going to make fruit salad, so I’ll need apples, bananas, oranges and pears.And for the birthday cake I need eggs, butter and sugar.I think that’s all. I think I’ve remembered everything!”Anna goes to the butcher and gets the meat.She goes to the green-grocer’s to get the salad vegetables, fruit and eggs.Then she goes to the supermarket to get the flour, butter, sugar and the French stick.

“I think I’ll get some icecream too,” she says to herself. “After all, it’s a special day. The children love icecream.”

As Anna is packing her bags she sees her friend Lena.“Hi Lena! I’ve just finished my shopping. Let’s go to the café.”They walk over to the café and sit down. Anna tells Lena about leaving her list at home.

“But I remembered everything!” she says proudly.

The waitress comes.“Two pots of tea please,” says Anna.

So while the waitress gets their tea, Anna hurries back to the supermarket to get the milk.Then she and Lena enjoy a chat and a nice cup of tea.

“Do you want milk with that?” asks the waitress.“The milk!” cries Anna. “I forgot the milk!”
