France

Voltimum France Data Base

We are receiving day after day the database of visitors of Elec Show 2004 and working on that base to extract the visitors who are close to our targets (installers, specifiers…).We are also present at the Elec show to support the registration process of visitors (e-mail address to fill in…) so that the database will be well enriched at the end of the event.

Thematic Files and Newsletter

We have sent to our users the “Dossier Chemin de Câbles” and are just launching the “Onduleurs UPS” file.

Our users really appreciate those topics, more than 50,000 pages were viewed specifically in one day just after the launch of the Thema “Chemin de Câbles”. For “Onduleurs”, figures are not so good. We are investigating to understand the reasons of such a drop in the traffic.

<>

Anyway, the target of the 2 Million viewed pages during the year 2004 should be reached and we are working hard during this month to get over the target of 5,000 recurrent users.

During the Elec show VoltiFlash are being sent on a daily frequency, to remind the users of this event, and to report to them the main information coming from this manifestation.

<>

In parallel, we have a constant progression of distinct visitors, which let us think that our base of potential recurrent users is growing in good proportion.

During more than 6 months, we have been close to 8,000 loyal visitors. With the visitors of Elec Show and our good recruiting actions during each launching of new Thema, we are confident to reach more than 15,000 loyal visitors rapidly and transform half of them in recurrent visitors for the beginning of next year.

Meetings and Potential Partners

- We will have a meeting with Atlantic group next week to confirm their partnership next year.- A meeting is planned with FAAC during the Elec Show- A meeting is planned with APIBAT during the Elec Show to get a “win-win” agreement for next year.

Lobbying is done on a long list of partners (Delta Dore, Urmet Captive, Cooper, Maréchal…) to get new partnership agreements for the beginning of next year.

On Line Poll

The Voltimum Poll has known quite a big success with roughly 200 answers in less than 2 weeks.Qualities of the answers help us to improve our services associated to this multi-brand portal.

Presence of Voltimum at the ELEC Show

We are present at the ELEC Show thanks to a special partnership with the Elec Organism in a mutualised way (Pôle Elec and Internet with CPI Media, J3E.com, eleclive.com, electricienplus.info and voltimum.fr)

This is a wonderful place to meet new potential partner and to get contacts for the next year.

Business & Marketing Plan for 2005

Following telephone and face-to-face discussions with all manufacturing partners of Voltimum, MF completed a business and marketing plan for 2005, which was circulated to the MDs of the shareholding companies for comment and approval. By end November, agreement received from all but two companies. Currently chasing these.

VoltiBLITZ

In November all the UK partners simultaneously implemented the VoltiBLITZ helping to raise awareness of Voltimum both internally and in the marketplace in general. Actions include:

Member of Voltimum certificates placed in prominent positions (Reception areas, Board rooms, etc)

Voltimum brochures are now displayed in dispensers in reception areas A flashing logo appears on the home page of the websites. To raise greater awareness internally, letters have been sent by the MDs of all Voltimum

manufacturers to all employees talking about Voltimum, its progress and why it is involved. 4,000 pieces of Mail or packaged goods will have a ‘member of Voltimum’ sticker in November

and December OSRAM deserves a special mention with its ‘MUM’s the word campaign which will run until

November 2005.

Registrations continue to grow at a healthy rate. The majority of these come through the Edmundson branches. Of concern continues to be high number of new users who opt not to receive our newsletter.

Opt-out rate at Registration (ORR)November's opt-out rate was 50%. That is the number of people who opted not to receive our newsletter at the point of registration. We have the highest ORR rate in Europe.

This is very different from our Unsubscribe Rate (those who no longer want to receive or newsletter) which is a very low 0.025% proving that the newsletter is relevant and interesting.

The challenge is to get people to try one and overcome the fear of Spam.

We have a plan in place to tackle this issue that includes direct mail followed by telephone contact. Our direct mail flyer was delivered to us from the printers at end November and sending this to new registrations that have opted out will now become part of our process in December.

When preparing our monthly forecast for November, we estimated that we would get 2,800 page views per working day when there is no special activity (up from 2600 in October) The impact of the newsletter gives us EXTRA page views above our daily rate of 2,800. The following is the newsletter impact for November

No. Page ViewsWeek 1: VoltiNEWS part 1 24,373Week 2: VoltiBULLETIN (Dali) 23,099Week 3: VoltiNEWS part 2 24,079Week 4: Loyal user of month & New users of month 35,000 (sent only to a limited number of users)

To encourage 'sleeping' users we sent an email entitled 'Wish you were here...' asking people who had not visited the site for over one month to come back to us and give us an excuse for their absence. This was very successful generating 15,000 page views and many very funny excuses.

VoltiBULLETIN – an industry first

Our November VoltiBULLETIN on DALI was an industry first we believe. The newsletter was given CPD accreditation, which means it will be a very useful tool for professionals in the industry. We hope to repeat the experience in 2005 and use the CPD accredited emails to draw users to the traditional CPD of our manufacturing partners.

Page views per login were 12.5 in November. Another good performance.

However, all efforts are going to increase the recurrent use rate on the UK site.

Meeting with Newey & Eyre

MF met with J. Harris, Marketing Mgr of Newey & Eyre regarding a VoltiLINK. They are very positive. However, they would be keen to get Voltimum to build their Newlec catalogue for them also. This is out of the question but discussions are ongoing.

Catalogue

We received a delivery of 400 products from Canalis toward the end of the month - a first in our Busbar trunking range. This brings our total to 24,000 products.

Resignation of Portal Content Manager

Marie-Anne Sampeur has resigned to return to France. We are currently interviewing for a replacement.

Germany

Marketing/Field Promotion

Stiebel Eltron’s field promotion activity runs very successfully also for Voltimum.Parallel to the promotion/communication of the re-launch of www.stiebel-eltron.de, Voltimum usage is promoted by Stiebel Eltron’s field sales staff.

Installers just have to confirm their interest also for the Voltimum portal – a copy of the paper form/registration for the Stiebel Eltron site is sent to Voltimum for registration on our portal.

Also in December the action has been very successful and added another 300 registration to Voltimum’s user base. The action officially ended with 2003. We therefore will benefit also in January 2004 from the action.

Marketing/Wholesaler awareness

The “harvest” of the joint wholesaler awareness campaign has been brought home, already. Partners committed their sales staff to place Voltimum posters at the point of sale / at wholesaler outlets.

At estim.150 outlets of wholesaler partners and (hopefully) future partners (Sonepar and Fröschl outlets proudly display the benefits of the Voltimum portal…) Voltimum posters have been placed.

The action has been supported by ABB OSRAM (80 outlets!!!) Nexans

For more than 100 outlets a formal feedback – most of the times also with photo documentation – has been sent back to Voltimum.

We are very happy about the support of ABB, OSRAM and Nexans.

To keep traffic up also in December an attractive advent calendar with a daily lottery has been set on the homepage. The calendar has been very successful:1,300 distinct users have played a total of 5,000 times!!

SeminarsWe arranged two seminars in Stockholm and two in Gothenburg. The speakers were our expert panels in low voltage distribution, building automation, lamps, and tele and data networks. We also launched a new expert panel in safety and standards.

The result of the seminars was, among other things, revenue, 200 participants, articles in the two biggest magazines in the industry, Elinstallatören and Electrikern, lots of content for the portal and lots of fuzz about our new panel.

This year we tried to minimize the cost and workload for our partners. We only had seminars in two cities to minimize travel expenses and we only required one speaker per expert panel.

The seminars are a very good way to tune in the expert panels working process and it generates lots of high quality content for the portal. The experts did a fantastic job!

Expert article in magazineWe placed another article in the electricians’ union magazine Elektrikern (29,500 in circulation), where our expert panel for laps gave the electricians a basic lesson in light. The article series is a very good way to promote the expert panels in Voltimum. This time we also got two full pages with lots of information about Voltimum.

NewslettersWe sent out four newsletters in November.

TelemarketingOur telemarketing campaigns for signing up installers and electrical manager for the newsletter are still running.

Meetings

We had a country committee meeting. Since our office is being renovated Philips hosted the meeting.
