The Pamlico County Board of Commissioners is the governing body for Pamlico County Government. The nine members of the Board are elected to staggered, four-year terms ensuring a smooth transition of county policies from one year to the next. Commissioners must reside within and are elected by the district they serve. Five Commissioners are elected as representatives from individual districts and two are elected from combining individual districts. Meetings are held on the first and third Monday of the Month at 7:00 PM in the Commissioners Room in the Pamlico County Courthouse.

Soup Kitchen/ Food Pantry, Religious Community Services: 7 Days 364 days a year. Monday- Friday 10:30 am- 11:45 pm. Saturday & Sunday 3:30- 4:45 PM. Must have proper identification in order to make use every day. Once proper id is seen, the person or family will receive enough food to feed the household three meals a day for one week, they can return once every three months, more with special approval. 252-633-2767.
Food Bank of Central and Eastern NC, New Bern Branch: Operates a food bank and numerous food pantries. Provides assistance with applying to FNS. Tuesday- Thursday 10:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m. as required.
Extended Hands: Food bank for anyone needing food assistance, Children ages 3-12 can attend the after school program free of charge. 252-512-9469. 723 Professional Drive New Bern, NC 28560. They also tutor math, English and other subjects.
Havelock Cherry Point Ministerial Association: Ministry operates a food pantry and provides heating/ cooling assistance to residents of Havelock/ Harlow. Works Monday-Friday 10 am-12pm and 1-2pm. Based on emergency need only. 252-447-5190.
Matthew 25, St. James United Methodist Church: 1011 Orange Street. Newport, NC 28570. 10 am- 12:00 pm. Food pantry, medical expense transportation, medical payment assistance, prescription assistance, assistance with utility bills.
Monthly Food Distribution/ Emergency Food, Marthas 857 West Main Street Belhaven, NC 27810. (252) 943-2124. Food pantry supplies food once a month (a three day supply) to qualified families. Emergency food to qualified persons who have not yet registered for monthly food. Martha’s is also a FEMA distribution center after a declared disaster. Tuesday-Friday 9 am- 2 pm.
Soule United Methodist Church Mobile Food Pantry: 1430 Main Street Swanquarter, NC 27885. (252) 423-0045. Mobile food pantry that meets the fourth Wednesday of the month from 10:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
