Writing: Children can use copies they brought home with them (news copy, English copy, Homework copy and Dictation copy). If your child was absent and didn’t get to bring home their copies use a spare copy.Writing Ideas-News writing, Today is….. The weather is …. -Put some tricky words into sentences, Choose a tricky word that you are working on and get your child to put it into a sentence and then write the sentence. - Write ng words. Put two ng words into a sentence. Draw 5 things that have ng in them e.g. ring, king, song etc-Write a short letter to a friend or family member.-Draw a picture of the vets and label what you can see in your picture if you like.-Write about your pet and draw a picture. If you do not have a pet make up an imaginary pet. It could even be a unicorn. Use your imagination. Write some sentences describing your pet, where he/she lives and what he/she likes to eat and do.-Make a sign for your vets play area. -Make a sign with opening hours for your vets.

Aistear/Integrated Learning: The VetsChildren can set up their own vets using their toys, cuddly toys/stuffed animals, a doctor’s kit, cash register, phone, coat for the vet (big white t shirt) and household items e.g. toilet paper for bandages. Maths Senior Infants: Number 10

-Number 10 art- Can you draw or paint a number 10 picture- draw the number 10 and a set of ten items e.g. cupcakes-Addition to 10- Get ten pieces of lego or lollipop sticks etc. How many different ways can we make 10. 9+1=10, 1+9=10, 8+2=10 etc Write all your answers into a copy.-Can you draw a numberline to 10 outside using chalk? Practice hopping on the numberline to do some sums. Eg. Start on 7, go on 2 more.

Junior Infants: Number 5-Number 5 art- Can you draw or paint a number 5 picture-draw the number 5 and a set of 5 items e.g. footballs

-Addition to 5- Get five pieces of lego/ lollipop sticks etc. How many different ways can we make 5 e.g. 2+3=5, 3+2=5, 1+4=5, 4+1=5 etc Write all your answers into a copy.

Maths games on www.folensonline.ie. The Vets: Make up some simple sums when playing in the vets e.g. How

many pets are in the queue? If one more pet join the queue, how many are there now? How much do you have to pay the vet? (for Junior Infants keep price under 10c and for Senior Infants keep price under 20c) What time is your appointment at the vet? (Only use o’ clock times e.g. the appointment is at 2 o’clock)

and old newspaper. Cut out a circle, a big semi-circle like shape and dog ears from newspaper. Glue onto a coloured sheet. Cut out spots from black paper and a collar using a different colour of your own choice.

Rainbow moments: Rainbow moments are all of those little moments during the day when good things happen. Maybe you played a fun game, watched a funny movie, created something interesting, had a nice lunch or dinner, noticed something beautiful in nature- there are lots of good things all around us, even at difficult times in our lives. We can train our minds to notice the good things. Write down three rainbow moments for the last 24 hours in little bubbles around your rainbow colouring page.
