Marriage Prayer

Heavenly Father,

through the powerful intercession of the Holy Family,

grant to this local church the many graces we need to foster,

strengthen, and support faith-filled, holy marriages and holy families.

May the vocation of married life,

a true calling to share in your own Divine and creative life,

be recognized by all believers as a source of blessing and joy,

and a revelation of your own Divine goodness.

Grant to us all the gift of courage to proclaim

and defend Your plan for marriage

which is the union of one man and one woman in the lifelong,

exclusive relationship of loving trust, compassion, and generosity,

open to the conception of children.

We make our prayer through Jesus Christ.

Amen

Entrance Song

God of Day and God of Darkness

God of day and God of darkness, Now we stand before the night;

As the shadows stretch and deepen, Come and make our darkness bright.

All creation still is groaning For the dawning of your might,

When the Sun of peace and justice Fills the earth with radiant light.

Still the nations curse the darkness, Still the rich oppress the poor;

Still the earth is bruised and broken By the ones who still want more.

Come and wake us from your sleeping, So our hearts cannot ignore

All your people lost and broken, All your children at our door.

Glory to God

Mass of Joy and Peace

Glory to God, glory to God,

glory to God in the highest,

and on earth peace, on earth

peace to people of good will.

We praise you, we bless you,

we adore you, we glorify you,

we give you thanks for your great glory,

Lord God, heavenly King,

O God, almighty Father.

Glory to God, glory to God,

glory to God in the highest,

and on earth peace, on earth

peace to people of good will.

Lord Jesus Christ,

Only Begotten Son,

Lord God, Lamb of God,

Son of the Father,

you take away the sins of the world,

have mercy on us;

you take away the sins of the world,

receive our prayer;

you are seated at the right hand,

the right hand of the Father,

have mercy on us.

Glory to God, glory to God,

glory to God in the highest,

and on earth peace, on earth

peace to people of good will.

For you alone are the Holy One,

you alone are the Lord,

you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ,

with the Holy Spirit,

in the glory of God the Father.

Glory to God, glory to God,

glory to God in the highest,

and on earth peace, on earth

peace to people of good will.

Amen.

EX 22:20-26

Thus says the LORD:

"You shall not molest or oppress an alien,

for you were once aliens yourselves in the land of Egypt.

You shall not wrong any widow or orphan.

If ever you wrong them and they cry out to me,

I will surely hear their cry.

My wrath will flare up, and I will kill you with the sword;

then your own wives will be widows, and your children orphans.

"If you lend money to one of your poor neighbors among my people,

you shall not act like an extortioner toward him

by demanding interest from him.

If you take your neighbor's cloak as a pledge,

you shall return it to him before sunset;

for this cloak of his is the only covering he has for his body.

What else has he to sleep in?

If he cries out to me, I will hear him; for I am compassionate."

Responsorial Psalm

Psalm 18: I love you, Lord

I love you, Lord, my strength.

I love you, O LORD, my strength,

O LORD, my rock, my fortress, my deliverer.

My God, my rock of refuge,

my shield, the horn of my salvation, my stronghold!

Praised be the LORD, I exclaim,

and I am safe from my enemies.

I love you, Lord, my strength.

The LORD lives and blessed be my rock!

Extolled be God my savior.

You who gave great victories to your king

and showed kindness to your anointed.

I love you, Lord, my strength.

1 THES 1:5C-10

Brothers and sisters:

You know what sort of people we were among you for your sake.

And you became imitators of us and of the Lord,

receiving the word in great affliction, with joy from the Holy Spirit,

so that you became a model for all the believers

in Macedonia and in Achaia.

For from you the word of the Lord has sounded forth

not only in Macedonia and in Achaia,

but in every place your faith in God has gone forth,

so that we have no need to say anything.

For they themselves openly declare about us

what sort of reception we had among you,

and how you turned to God from idols

to serve the living and true God

and to await his Son from heaven,

whom he raised from the dead,

Jesus, who delivers us from the coming wrath.

Gospel

MT 22:34-40

When the Pharisees heard that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees,

they gathered together, and one of them,

a scholar of the law tested him by asking,

"Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?"

He said to him,

"You shall love the Lord, your God,

with all your heart,

with all your soul,

and with all your mind.

This is the greatest and the first commandment.

The second is like it:

You shall love your neighbor as yourself.

The whole law and the prophets depend on these two commandments."

Offertory Song

Jesu, Jesu

Jesu, Jesu, fill us with your love,

show us how to serve the neighbors we have from you.

Kneels at the feet of his friends, Silently washes their feet,

Master who pours out himself for them.

Jesu, Jesu, fill us with your love,

show us how to serve the neighbors we have from you.

Neighbors are wealthy and poor, Varied in color and race,

Neighbors are nearby and far away.

Jesu, Jesu, fill us with your love,

show us how to serve the neighbors we have from you.

These are the ones we should serve, These are the ones we should love:

All these are neighbors to us and you.

Jesu, Jesu, fill us with your love,

show us how to serve the neighbors we have from you.

Kneel at the feet of our friends, Silently washing their feet:

This is the way we should live with you.

Jesu, Jesu, fill us with your love,

show us how to serve the neighbors we have from you.

Act of Spiritual Communion

My Jesus,

I believe that You are present

in the Most Holy Sacrament.

I love You above all things,

and I desire to receive You into my soul.

Since I cannot at this moment

receive You sacramentally,

come at least spiritually into my heart.

I embrace You as if You were already there

and unite myself wholly to You.

Never permit me to be separated from You.

Amen

Communion Song

We Have Been Told

We have been told, we’ve seen his face

and heard his voice alive in our hearts:

“Live in my love with all your heart;

as the Father has loved me, so I have loved you.”

“I am the vine, you are the branches,

and all who live in me will bear great fruit.”

We have been told, we’ve seen his face

and heard his voice alive in our hearts:

“Live in my love with all your heart;

as the Father has loved me, so I have loved you.”

“You are my friends, if you keep my commands;

no longer slaves, I call you friends.”

We have been told, we’ve seen his face

and heard his voice alive in our hearts:

“Live in my love with all your heart;

as the Father has loved me, so I have loved you.”

“No greater love is there than this:

to lay down one’s life for a friend.”

We have been told, we’ve seen his face

and heard his voice alive in our hearts:

“Live in my love with all your heart;

as the Father has loved me, so I have loved you.”

St. Michael’s Prayer

St. Michael the Archangel,

defend us in battle.

Be our defense against the wickedness

and snares of the Devil.

May God rebuke him,

we humbly pray,

and do thou,

O Prince of the heavenly hosts,

by the power of God,

thrust into hell Satan,

and all the evil spirits,

who prowl about the world

seeking the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Recessional

Christ, Be Our Light!

Longing for light, we wait in darkness.

Longing for truth, we turn to you.

Make us your own, your holy people,

Light for the world to see.

Christ, be our light!

Shine in our hearts. Shine through the darkness.

Christ, be our light!

Shine in your Church gathered today.

Longing for peace, our world is troubled.

Longing for hope, many despair.

Your word alone has pow’r to save us.

Make us your living voice.

Christ, be our light!

Shine in our hearts. Shine through the darkness.

Christ, be our light!

Shine in your Church gathered today.
