1. GENERAL
This specification covers the minimum requirements for the design, manufacture, fabrication,
testing, inspection, packaging and supply of a Diesel Engine Driven Fire Water Pumps,
complete with components and accessories, to be installed in Djebel Grouz Field located at the
South East of Tunisia.
The Vendor and his sub-vendors shall comply with all requirements of this Specification, Data
Sheets, and the latest editions of all specifications, codes, and standards referenced in this
scope of work.
The packages shall be designed and guaranteed for continuous service in the environmental
conditions specified, and the specified process parameters.
2. DEFINITIONS & ABBREVIATIONS
For the purposes of clarification in the present specification, the following definitions apply:
Vendor: The party which supplies Diesel Engine Driven Fire Water Pump to perform the
duties specified by E.N.I.
Company: E.N.I. Tunisia B.V.
Site: Djebel Grouz Field at the South East of Tunisia.
Manufacturer: The party which manufactures or supplies equipment and pipes toperform the duties specified by the Vendor.
Shall: A term which indicates that a provision is a requirement.
Should: A term which indicates that a provision is recommended as good practice but is
not a requirement.
May: A term which indicates that a provision is neither required nor prohibited.

3. DESCRIPTION OF THE SUPPLY
This specification defines the requirements for the supply of Diesel Engine Driven Fire Water
Pump.
The Vendor shall therefore be responsible for the design, manufacture and correct operation of
the complete unit.
Design and supply of the Unit shall be complete (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrument, etc.) in
order to ensure proper Operation, Maintenance, Safety and Control within the Unit Battery
Limits.

5. ORDER OF PRIORITY OF THE DOCUMENTS
In the event of a conflict between this Specification, data sheets and the applicable codes and
standards, the Vendor shall bring the matter to the Companys attention for positive clarification,
resolution and review in writing before any work is started. In the absence of any guidance or
agreement to the contrary, the most stringent requirements shall apply.
Should any conflict occur as a result of applying data sheets and specifications, the order of
precedence shall be as follows:
Purchase Order.
This Specification including data sheet.
E.N.I. General Specifications.
Codes and Standards.
Other International Codes and Standards.
6. AMBIENT CONDITIONS
The Supplier shall consider the following design site ambient conditions for the package design:

7. SCOPE OF SUPPLY
The Vendor shall be responsible for the provision of Diesel Engine Driven Fire Water Pump
completely assembled which shall be painted and tested at shop.
The Vendor shall provide all technical documentation relative to the Diesel Engine Driven Fire
Water Pump.
8. SCOPE OF SERVICES
Services shall include but not limited to:
Inspection and testing.
Surface preparation and painting.
Preservation for storage.
Preparation for shipment.
Delivery Ex-works.
9. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
9.1. GENERAL
The Vendor shall ensure that the Diesel Engine Driven Fire Water Pump is designed for
maximum reliability, minimum maintenance and it shall be designed and constructed for a
minimum service life of 20 years.
9.2. MECHANICAL REQUIREMENTS
9.2.1. Fire Water Pump
The Firewater Pump shall be a Centrifugal Pump compliant to NFPA 20.

Pump shall have the possibility for local / manual operation as well as remote / Automatic
operation.
Pumps design data is shown on the attached Data Sheet 55117-ENI-SF-DS-PA-004. In the
event of conflict between this specification and Data Sheet, the Data Sheet shall govern.
Firewater pumps speed shall not exceed 1800 RPM.
Firewater pumps shall be horizontal centrifugal pumps with radial displacement as per NFPA 20.
The pumps shall have suction strainers in accordance with NFPA-20.
Bearings housing shall be arranged so that bearings can be replaced without disturbing pump
drivers or mounting.
Mounting skid shall be separate and located sufficiently below from the main body flange in
order to facilitate bolting on the body flange.
9.2.2. Bearing and Bearing Housing
Bearings shall be lubricated by constant-level oilers.
9.2.3. Mechanical Seal and Packing
Detail of mechanical seals offered by the Vendor shall require Company approval prior to
installation.
The Vendor shall recommend and describe number, size, and material of packing rings, lantern
rings, etc.
Stationary mechanical seal faces shall be O ring mounted with a radial pin to prevent face
rotation.

9.2.4. Coupling
The coupling between the engine and the gear shall be short coupled universal shaft with
flanges for driver and driven shaft. It shall be sized to handle full engine power with a minimum
service factor of 1.75.
Coupling shall be designed to prevent engine vibration, caused by misalignment.
Coupling shall allow the engine or the pump to be removed without disturbing the other.
Coupling shall be dynamically balanced and rated for a minimum bearing life of 5000 hours.
A removable non-sparking guard shall be provided around the coupling.
All bolting for shaft guard shall be type 316 stainless steel with a minimum spacing of 150 mm
and a minimum diameter of 10 mm.
9.2.5. Driver Diesel Engine
The diesel engine driver shall conform to NFPA-20 requirements and shall be approved for fire
pump use.
The intermittent engine shaft horsepower shall be at least 1.2 times the maximum horsepower
required to drive the fire pump at 150% of its design capacity at the rated RPM, installed
elevation and engine inlet air temperature. The required horsepower shall include the pump and
all the engine auxiliaries. Engine power ratings shall comply with power test codes of S.A.E. and
A.S.M.E.
A hydro-mechanical governor with a positive locking control shall regulate engine speed within a
range of 10% between shut-off and maximum load conditions of the pump. There shall be no
manual throttle.

9.2.6. Diesel Fuel System
The fuel system shall include a fuel filter with readily replaceable filter media. The fuel system
shall be leak-free throughout all conditions of engine operation. The inlet to the fuel system shall
be readily connectable to a fuel supply line employing connections designed in accordance with
a recognized standard of the nation to which the engine is to be delivered.
9.2.7. Engine Lube Oil System
A full flow engine lubrication pressure system with pump, strainer, piping, heat exchanger and
full flow oil filter equipped with a bypass valve and pressure gauge shall be provided.
Filters shall be furnished with accessible and easily replaceable cellulose type filter elements.
All piping downstream of lube oil filters shall be stainless steel.
Flexible connections shall be wire braid reinforced type 316 stainless steel bellows type.
9.2.8. Engine Cooling System
The engine cooling system shall be included as part of the engine assembly and shall be a
radiator type that includes a circulating pump driven by the engine, a radiator, an engine jacket
temperature regulating device, and an engine-driven fan for providing positive movement of air
through the radiator.
9.2.9. Engine Exhaust System
Exhaust system in accordance with NFPA 20, shall be complete with all piping, fittings, brackets
and supports. A properly sized rain cap shall be provided.
Exhaust ducting shall be carbon steel with expansion bellows of 316 stainless steel, seamless or
welded corrugated design, mounted between engine outlet and exhaust pipe.
Silencers shall be furnished with spark arresters and support straps with vibration isolators.

Engine exhaust manifold, and turbo charger if furnished, shall be water cooled.
All other surfaces of exhaust system, silencer, flanges and expansion bellows shall be insulated.
9.2.10. Vibration and Critical Speeds
The Vendor shall assume full responsibility for performance of necessary torsional studies and
elimination of any lateral or torsional vibrations that may adversely affect operation of completeunit within specified operating range.
Torsional natural frequencies of engine and driven equipment shall not be closer than 10% to
any specified running speed.
The Vendor shall submit proof that required torsional vibration studies have been satisfactorily
performed. Requirement shall be per Vendor Document Requirements.

9.2.11. Starting System
All systems shall be furnished in accordance with NFPA 20 except where modified herein.
Starting system shall be furnished with logic that prevents operation of starting motor when
engine is running.
Pump shall be capable of starting by either:
Remotely initiated signal (electric) from Master Control Panel. Loss of signal shall start
pump.
Manually initiated signal (local).
Pump shall be stopped by local manual action only, except when it is in its "Test" mode.
The primary starting system shall be suitable for operation with compressed air, in EEx d IIB T1
hazardous area.
The secondary (backup) start system shall be nitrogen gas stored in high pressure cylinders. It
shall provide sufficient volume for three (3) start attempts. The Vendor shall also provide the
high pressure regulator in the nitrogen outlet manifold.
The volume of the air/nitrogen tank shall be sized for 180 seconds of continuous cranking start
attempts without recharging. Dry nitrogen will be fed to the volume bottle at 10.34 barg from high
pressure nitrogen cylinders. The volume bottle shall be an ASME coded pressure vessel
designed for 13.8 barg, and shall be protected by a relief valve, sized for fail-open capacity of
the nitrogen regulator.
The primary (air) and secondary (nitrogen) systems shall be with manifold such that either air or
nitrogen will be available to the starter valve. A low pressure switch on the start air line shall
initiate the flow of nitrogen to the starter.
All valves in the air start and nitrogen start systems shall be carbon steel.

9.2.12. Instrumentation
Vendor shall supply all controls and instrumentation, associated with pumps and drivers, to
reach Company and NFPA-20 design philosophy.
The low pressure switches monitoring the firewater header pressure shall be supplied and
mounted on pump control panels by vendor.
Level gauges on the nitrogen gas bottle shall be a reflex type.
Vendor shall install all required pneumatic tubing on the skid. All tubing external to the panel
shall be 3/8" O.D. 316 stainless steel, 0.035" wall minimum, supported in tubing trays. (Tubing
strapped to pipe is not acceptable.)
Tubing installations shall be neat, plumb, properly supported and exhibit professional
workmanship.
A Pressure Indicator shall be installed at pump discharge line.
9.2.13. Control Scheme and Control Panels
Panel and stand shall be mounted on skid.
Pneumatic and wiring connection of the control panel shall be required to external piping and
wiring circuits furnished by others. All necessary valves, regulators and gauges shall be supplied
by Vendor.
Pressure and temperature gauges shall be liquid filled, with stainless steel cases. Tubing shall
be type 316 stainless steel.
Panel enclosure shall be constructed of 316 stainless steel with a brushed finish, free of tool and
clamp marks. All internal braces, enclosure hardware and instruments shall be 316 stainless
steel. Panel shall have removable, full opening doors on rear side with heavy duty 316 stainless
steel hinges and closures.

Panel nameplates shall be stainless steel, engraved type. All bulkhead connectors shall have
nameplates both inside and outside the panel enclosure. Instruments shall be provided with
permanently attached nameplates. Nameplates on the panel shall be mounted with 316
stainless steel screws.
Instrument air pressure to the panel shall be 7-10 bar. Regulators shall be provided to reducethe pressure to the required pressure needed by the logic circuits. While running, loss of
instrument air to the panel shall not cause shutdown of the pump.
Panel shall house pump stop/start controls and test/auto selector switch.
While in auto mode, all shutdown devices shall be disarmed. All alarm and indication functions
shall operate normally.
Panel shall contain all procedures necessary to start pump if not already running. procedures
shall control starting sequence in accordance with NFPA guidelines.
Except when the pump is running in "Test" mode, low fuel level, low oil pressure, engine over
speed and high jacket water temperature shall run an audible alarm and a red flashing alarm. In
"Test" mode, these malfunctions shall shut down the pump.
The pump status (run, fail) shall be transmitted to a remote control panel through an electrical
signal. Pump running signal shall be generated from an oil pressure switch set at rated engine
oil pressure to ensure running signal will not be displayed unless engine has started and
achieved operational running speed.
The following instruments shall be furnished as a minimum on control panel:
Tachometer (range 0-125% rated speed), with adjustable over speed trip setting, over
speed alarm, digital speed indicator and test function.
Engine oil pressure gauge.
Engine cooling water temperature gauge.

The following alarms and shutdowns shall be provided. Alarm signals shall be displayed on
control panel by means of first-out indicators. All shutdowns shall be bypassed in auto mode.

Vendor shall submit the wiring and connection diagram of the control panel logic, bill of
materials, panel front layout, and name tag list for Company approval prior to fabrication of the
panel.

9.2.14. Electrical
All skid mounted electrical control and instrumentation systems shall be installed in accordance
with NFPA-70, NEC or IEC
Vendor shall do the wiring from devices on the skid to the unit control panel. All controls and
signals which go off-skid shall be wired to a separate junction box located on the edge of the
skid. Provide six (6) spare terminals.
Electric pressure switches and solenoid valves shall be explosion proof material. Pressure
switches shall be DPDT Electrical form. All electric installations shall conform to NEC or IEC
recommended practices for EEx d IIB T1 hazardous areas.
9.2.15. Structural Skid
Vendor shall be responsible for supplying the completed and assembled package on structural
steel skids. Vendor shall be fully responsible for the detailed design. Each skid structure shall be
designed for a single point lift. Lifting eyes shall be provided on skid.
All equipment shall be mounted on structural members of the skid. Packaging shall be suitable
for withstanding transportation loads during ocean and truck transportation.
All load bearing members shall be connected by full penetration welds. All defected surfaces
shall be continuously seal welded.
10.INSPECTION AND TESTING
Inspection and testing of the pumps and all associated auxiliary items shall be carried out in
accordance with the relevant codes, standards, approved procedures and Inspection Plan.
The Vendor shall provide an Inspection & Testing Plan for purchased review and comments.

The equipment shall be subject to inspection and witnessing of tests by the Company, as and
when required.
The Vendor shall provide free access to his work for the authorized representative of the
Company. All necessary certification of materials, shop test data, etc, shall be made available to
verify that the requirements of the Company are being met.
Acceptances of shop Tests shall not relieve the vendor to meet field tests under specified
operating condition, nor does the inspection relieve the Vendor of his responsibility.
11.SURFACE PREPARATION AND PAINTING
The preparation and painting procedures must comply with the attached ENI specification:
20000. VAR. PAI. FUN.
As option, the Vendor may include in the offer his standard painting procedure for approval.
The Vendor shall paint the equipment and materials within his scope of supply, which shall be
done at Vendors facilities to the maximum extent possible. Paint materials to be used shall be in
accordance to the paint specification attached.
12.SPARE PARTS
The Vendor shall provide all spare parts required for construction, pre-commissioning,
commissioning and Start-up.
The vendor shall provide quotation for Spare Parts of the various components of the supply
according to his experience as follow:
Capital spare
Two Years of Operation.
Each part shall be separately quoted.

Spare parts definition shall include sectional drawings and/or exploded view to identify the listed
parts on the relevant Spare Parts Form.
13.PRESERVATION
The extent of preservation to be applied shall be based on the assumption that a minimum of
06 months will pass before the equipment is ready for initial start-up. The Vendor shall specify
his recommendation for the preservation for both indoor and outdoor storage.
Provided manuals shall list all the conservation applied and all measures required for up-
keeping the Diesel Engine Driven Fire Water Pump until installation time.
14.PREPARATION FOR SHIPMENT, TRANSPORT AND STORAGE
The Diesel Engine Driven Fire Water Pump, shall be crated, properly protected and marked for
export and shipment.
It shall be adequately preserved and sealed to withstand any adverse condition evolving from
the mode of transportation (trucks in desert and bad condition road; dusty environment).
15.DELIVERY
The Diesel Engine Driven Fire Water Pump shall be delivered Ex-works.
Its Vendors responsibility to provide all necessary paper work and documentation for
transportation and customs clearing (if any).

16.GUARANTEE
The Diesel Engine Driven Fire Water Pump, component parts shall be guaranteed by the
Vendor against defective materials, design and workmanship for a period of 12 months after
start-up or 18 months after delivery.
If any mal-performance or defect occurs during the guarantee period, the Vendor shall make all
necessary alterations, repair and replacements free of charge.
17.DOCUMENTS TO BE DELIVERED
The following documents shall be provided prior to the shipment of the Diesel Engine Driven
Fire Water Pump:
Material certificate
Certificate of Conformity
Certificate of shop visual inspection by third party Inspector
Certificate of shop Hydro test by third party Inspector
Installation, operating and maintenance instructions.
