Dear Parents, Friends and Carers,
Next week we will celebrate the end of another terrific year at Warrnambool East Primary
School. Tomorrow accompanying the Student Reports there will be a letter with comprehensive
information relating to 2014. There will also be a copy attached to the school website.
Tomorrow our Koorie Student Leaders and Kate Buchanan will participate in the Eumeralla Walk
- Celebrating Aboriginal History through Walking Traditional Lands. Local Elder Uncle Robbie
Lowe will be walking from Macarthur to the Warrnambool Art Gallery to celebrate local Indige-
nous history and highlight the newly-opened exhibition Strong Women, Strong Painting, Strong
Culture featuring work by leading Indigenous women artists from the Central and Western De-
sert country of Australia. Our leaders will be joining Uncle Robbie at Woodford P.S. at 9.30am
to join Robbie Senior, hear the traditional stories and then walk for an hour along the track to
Warrnambool, before returning to school by bus. If anyone would like to join in the walk then
please do so and also take the opportunity to view the
exhibit at the gallery during the holidays.
Tomorrow our choir will be singing carols for our
friends at Lyndoch. A special thank you to Janet – Ja-
net has not only been preparing the choir, but has
been ferrying our choir to many places around
Warrnambool to entertain and spread the Christmas
message.
The happy Year 3 /4 campers are due back this after-
noon and from all reports they are having a brilliant
time. Thank you to all involved at this very hectic time
of year.
Jane Dunn, Sally Kilpatrick and I are heading to Mel-
bourne tonight for a briefing on our successful appli-
cation to undertake Teacher Led research in 2014.
This is a DEECD initiative and will provide funding for
both teachers to have time to research while they are
teaching. They will be researching the correlation be-
tween oral language and literacy learning.
Koorie Family BBQ tonight – thank you to Kate Bu-
chanan for organising this event.
I look forward to seeing many of you on Monday at ei-
ther the Year 6 Graduation and or the Family Picnic.
Lindy
We wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Safe New Year!

State Final, Milo T20 Blast School Cup Cricket
What a fantastic and exciting day we had last Friday. After an early start at 5.45am, we arrived at the MCG
at 9.15am ready to take on the other 7 state finalists. We played 3 games in the lead up to the final and after
some close games we won all three to take our place in the final. Our bowling and fielding had been excellent
and we were all hoping the girls could take this great form into the finals. Our girls played Dandenong North in
that final and they continued to display excellent batting, bowling and fielding skills to win the game 155runs
to 137runs. A state gold medal was their reward which was a fantastic achievement. This is a fine achievement
considering there were 1800 teams at the beginning of this competition. As well as winning a medal the school
will receive a laptop. Well done girls and we all agreed the MCG
experience was fantastic. Congratulations to Bella Rantall, Shona
Noske Poulton, Zhane Heremaia, Telicia Brittain, , Amy Morton,
Grace Farrer, Meg Luderman and Olivia Burn. Emerson Knight and
Alannah Sharp unfortunately couldn’t play last Friday however
their contribution at district and regional level was invaluable. A
huge thank you to all the parents, grand parents and friends who
made the effort to come down to Melbourne to cheer on the
team. Your encouragement throughout the day was greatly appre-
ciated. Also many thanks to all the parents who drove their car on
the day.
WELL DONE GIRLS!!!
Thankyou all so
much for your kind
donations towards
the Mulready
Children’s Appeal!!

On Friday 6th December the Grade 6 boys
played in the State Volleyball Championships at
MSAC in Melbourne. They won 2 games out of 3
in the rounds which meant they went through
the to semi-finals. They played Tecoma in the
semi. WEPS won the first set then Tecoma won
the second set. In the third set the score was
15-13 and East just lost. It was a very close
game. East are the third best in the state.
GREAT JOB BOYS!!!
