WE ARE WHAT WE EAT The unit "We are what we eat" is aimed at children in 1st grade of Secondary Education for the area of Science. With the learning outcomes of this unit, the students will: - To know and differentiate food and groups in which they are divided. - To know and apply each of the functions performed by the food in our body. - To develop a balanced diet. - To acquire a concept of healthy and balanced diet. Some nice expressions and vocabulary should have been appeared: NOUNS: Apples, biscuits, bread, cereal, dairy, carrots, cheese, chicken, fat, fruit, eggs, lemonade, protein, sugar, milk, rice, vegetable, diet, nutrient, lipids, carbohydrates, fats, proteins, minerals, vitamins, stomach, small and large intestine, anus, digestion, blood, saliva. VERBS: Boil, fry, grill, roast, bake, eat, cut, chew, absorb, clean, taste. ADJETIVES: Tasty, bland, sweet, salty, fresh, tender, fatty, yummy, crispy. EXPRESSIONS: - Have you ever been junk food? - Which is your favourite food? - How is your health? What do you prefer eating for breakfast, for lunch, for dinner? Now, I will show to you a detailed description of the application sessions in the classroom, the activities undertaken and resources to work.

The unit "We are what we eat" is aimed at children in 1st grade of Secondary Education for the area of Science.

Now, I will show to you a detailed description of the application sessions in the classroom, the activities undertaken and resources to work.There are 6 sessions in this unit: In the first session, I want to make an introduction in order to connect the knowledge of the students about HEALTH AND FOOD with the new concepts that we are going to work in this unit.

For the second objective, will need a session, in which we will play interactive game about healthy and unhealthy food and also we know new concepts about different nutrients in the food.

The third session will be dedicated to explain differents reasons about diets using examples the diets and to decide the best. In the second part of the class we will practice a song.

The four class will be a class to learn digestive system vocabulary before the exam. We will practice different exercises from our worksheet in English and to solve questions.

The fifth session is a nice moment to practice what they learned in the unit with all the acquired vocabulary. They will write theirs perfect menu for a day.

The six class is for the TEST about all the information studied in this unit.In my sessions of class the resources are:

Students book, Workbook, Computer room, Food flashcards, CD player

Materials: pencils, crayons, scissors, glue, paper

After completing this unit students will have improved their key competences and they will be able to:

Differentiate between healthy and unhealthy food.

Explain the food with the nutrients they contains.

Explain the digestive system.

Understand the important of balanced diet.
